I had a bad sinus infection on a recent flight and experienced severe ear pain on landing. Now my ears keep cracking and popping every time I swallow.

Decongestant: You might try irrigating your sinuses with a saline solution using a neti-pot, and also taking some Pseudoephedrine (ask your friendly pharmacist). If that does not work there is oxymetozaline spray, but this can be dangerous if used too often. If these simple things don't solve the problem you might want to see an ENT doctor. Good luck. ...Read more

For 10 days I had a bad cough w yellow mucus, sore throat & ear pain. This happened after my antibiotic treatment for ear/sinus infection. Can't sleep?

See below: With your description, this is likely viral in nature. Abx are way overused in our society and according to the infectious disease society of america, 98% of all sinusitis is viral and does not need abx. Ear infx are also often viral and the pain you are feeling is due to the fluid behind the ear drum. Also, yellow or green mucous is non-specific and does not always mean bacterial. Hello, I am a 48 year old female. 3 weeks ago I had an intense earache in my left ear. I also physically could not lay on it as well as shooting pain. My MD although no sign of fluid thought perhaps I had a sinus infection and prescribed an antibiotic. N

Earache: What you are describing is quite common. If your ear drum looked pretty normal, it isn't likely you have an ear infection. A sinus infection could cause ear pain, but you would also expect to have nasal congestion, facial pressure and/or pain as well as nasal discharge. You are more likely suffering from pain in your jaw joint. To make sure, you should really have an exam by an ear specialist. ...Read more
