Get looked at: Get it looked at. Sometimes the sensation of a "clogged ear" is inaccurate. It might be that you have fluid behind your ear drum, and this is treated differently than ear wax. For persistent ear wax, frequently getting the ear canal flushed with water in the doc's office works great. ...Read more

My right ear is clogged. I can't hear from it and I feel like my face has pressure with a headache. Sinus? What can I take? I hate not hearing clear!
Ears clogged: I may be something as simple as a clogged ear canal - clogged with wax. Another possibility would be sinus issues causing the eustachian tube not to function and causing muffled sounds and a pressure sensation on that side. Probably best to see your doctor to determine if its wax or sinus issue. ...Read more
I am getting over brutal cold. On completion of a huge yawn, my left ear suddenly clogged up & can't hear. Already plugged nose&mouth&blew. Suggestions?
Sinus rinse: I would recommend that you rinse your sinuses with something like the neil med sinus rinse kit. The issue with the hearing is likely related to some of your secretions getting into your eustatian tube (it runs from your middle ear to the back of your throat) and middle ear. That should get better with time you could also use decongestants to help (psuedoephedrine). ...Read more

What are possible diagnosis' if I have severe hearing loss, clogged ear/pressure, ringing, but absolutely no dizziness/vertigo. And its not wax.?
See ENT: Assuming this is a one-sided loss, here are some of a number of possible diagnoses, all of which should be evaluated by an ear, nose and throat specialist: 1) sudden sensorineural hearing loss - need to see ENT asap; 2) cochlear-variant meniere's disease (symptoms usually fluctuate); 3) vestibular schwannoma (aka acoustic neuroma). ...Read more
Fluid, ear drum two days ago. Used "swim-ear" over-the-counter and it burned 2nd time used, woke up clogged with hearing loss. Home remedy? Fly wed!
Need ear checked: Swim ear is an alcohol-based ear drop, hence the reason it burned. If your ear is clogged, it is difficult to determine the exact cause without looking at the ear. It could be the that you had wax in your ear that liquified and is now coating your ear drum or if you somehow developed fluid in the middle ear. Best to get it checked before you fly. ...Read more
Went to ENT for clogged/ringing in ear said ear looked fine did hearing test and gave steroid for slight hearing loss what causes this is steroid safe?
Eustachian tube: Hello, your ear symptoms are due to a eustachian tube dysfunction. The lining in your nose continues into the eustachian tube. Any condition affecting your nose will in turn cause ear symptoms. I would recommend afrin nasal spray as directed for 5 days. An otc decongestant can be used as directed thereafter for 7-10 days. If the symptoms persist, then see your ent. ...Read more

My ear is clogged, I can hear a slight ringing. When I try to clear it w/ water, I can hear again but it goes right back. Now I am slightly dizzy.
Examination: You probably have a wax impaction. This can loosened with a dissolving drug like Cerumenex and can be removed by direct inspection with a cerumen spoon or a water jet. Don't try to do it yourself as you're likely to force it and wedge it in ever farther. Vertigo is common with this and will subside after you're treated. ...Read more

No: Ringing in the ears, tinnitus, does not have to be associated with a hearing loss. An audiogram can demonstrate a hearing loss. Remember, the human inner ear, even in the presence of normal hearing, may have loss of the organ of hearing for the very high frequencies, such as 10, 000 to 16, 000 cycles per second. This loss of hair cells in the very basal turn of the cochlea may cause tinnitus. ...Read more
