Clear water like substance coming out of my ear. Do I have an ear infection?

I have ear infection now i'm taking a medicin but my ears is still like have water blocking in may ears. Is this normal?

Yes: With a middle ear infection, there is pus and fluid in the middle ear cavity. The antibiotics fight the infection, and reduce swelling, but it can take several weeks for all the fluid to clear. Antihistamines have not been found to be helpful, but sometimes decongestants may help. The fluid is pretty annoying, but if pain persists, please report to your doctor. ...Read more

Every time i get water in my ears, i end up with an ear infection. Why is this happening now but before it never used to occur?

Prednisone?: It could be because you are on prednisone. That can lead to an increase of ear canal infections. You can use 50% alcohol or 50% vinegar drops to put into your ears after water contact to reduce the chance of swimmer's ear. If you have a current infection, the alcohol drops will burn and should be avoided. ...Read more

Would putting my head over boiling water and Vicks help to drain the fluid from my two ear infections?

Would putting my head over boiling water and Vicks help to drain the fluid from my two ear infections?

More a waste of time: If something needs to drain it will spontaneously. If you have a middle ear infection the fluid must drain into your throat from the eustachian tube. If outer ear, it drains by itself. If you enjoy holding your head over boiling water, do so & you can relax. I wouldn't ever do it myself. ...Read more

What r the signs & symptoms of an ear infection. My ear is sore and also feels like it is full of water and its not. What could be wrong ?

It sounds like you: have an ear infection. The only way to tell is for a doctor/health care provider to look at it with an otoscope. You can take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the pain until you can be seen. The feeling of water in your ear may be from fluid behind your ear drum, which can be part of the ear infection. ...Read more

My ear feels clogged I do have some pain, then when i open and close my mouth everyone can hear the the crackling sound and it blowing my nose dose not help also I do not have water in it. Could it be an ear infection?

This : This could be eustachian tube disorder, but the fact that others can hear the crackling makes me think that another option could be your jaw joint--the temporo-mandibular joint (tmj). Disorders and pain in that area is often referred to the ears with multiple symptoms: pain, fullness, popping...The pain can radiate to the head and cause headaches, or down into the neck and throat areas. It is the most common cause of ear pain when the ear looks normal to a doctor. This can be evaluated by your primary care doctor or a dental surgeon. Most common treatment is NSAID medications and physical therapy--rarely surgery is needed. ...Read more

2 year old is rubbing her ear after a bath for 2 days. Could this be an ear infection or just water in the ear? How do I tell?

Someone looks: In the absence of fever, change in appetite or behavior i wouldn't assume an ear infection. In an unpublished study during residency we found only around 5% of kids pulling their ears as a presenting complaint had one. To be certain, only someone looking into the ear with proper equipment would be able to say for sure. ...Read more

Hi there I got water in my ears this morning in the shower and after 8 hours is now sore inside. What's wrong with my ears is it ear infection?

Water in ears: You could have wax in your ears, which trapped water and this may be uncomfortable. The water itself can cause the skin to swell and become irritated. An outer ear infection is possible, but it is a little early for that to have occurred. Best go see your doctor or an ENT to check it out. ...Read more

Can a ear tube cause swimmer's ear infection if you accidentally get water in your ear.?

Otorrhea: What can happen with an ear tube in place is that the water goes through the tube into the middle ear and causes an infection in the middle ear. This then drains out into the ear canal(called otorrhea with intact tympanostomy tube). It is best treated with antibiotic ear drops that an ENT doctor can prescribe for you. ...Read more
