My right ear feels blocked with ear wax if I use ear drops will it make Eustachian tube dysfunction worse in that ear? Or should I get it flushed?

What's in the ear?: The doctor will want to know what is in the ear. He has to look in the ear. Otherwise, he has to guess what's in the ear... unless another doctor just cleared out the canals. If so, it is presumed that nothing is in the ear canal. In a normal person, without a hole or a tube in the eardrum, ear drops will not go beyond the ear canal, so most drops will not directly affect the eustachian tube.

Treat the inner ear!: Sometimes inner ear fullness can feel like obstructed canals - try to blow against a closed nose and I recommend using nasal sinus rinses like NeilMed makes. Let me know if that helps!!

Ringing in the ears: Tinnitus is noise or ringing in the ears. There is no drug for cure. Tinnitus is not a disease, but a condition that can result from many underlying causes (e.g. TMJ). Rec.: see ENT or orofacial pain specialist to rule out secondary pathology.

What I should do if there are too much ear wax and I feel the ear is somewhat "blocked"?

Debrox: As an ENT surgeon, the simplest thing I suggest is using over the counter debrox drops twice daily for one week. If that does not do the trick call your local ent. Most ents have a microscope in the office. Under microscope the wax (cerumen) will be removed with instruments or a gentle vacuum.

Ear is blocked with extremely hard wax. What should I do?

Ear is blocked with extremely hard wax. What should I do?

Ear wax drops: Get some over-the-counter ear wax drops (the cheapest are about as good as any), and put 5-10 drops in the ear and lay with ear up for 5 minutes (+). Try to do twice a day. If no better in a few days, you'll at least have softened things up for a doctor to remove / flush the wax out. Keep using drops about once / month to keep wax from building, and no q-tips - they push the wax back in deeper!

My ears get blocked with wax once per year. What can I do to stop this happening? I don't put anything in and have tried drops and oil with no success.

Not sure which drops: Your were using but debrox seems to be favored by ENT specialists. Http://www. Webmd. Com/drugs/drug-16340-debrox+otic. Aspx? Drugid=16340;drugname=debrox+otic.

Go to the Doctor: If you have already tried the over the counter ear wax removal drops and bulb syringe available at the drug store then the next step is to get a doctor to clean out the canal.

Right ear gets blocked when I lay on it - stays even when I turn over. Can't hear. Have to rub to unblock. Wax? Postural malfunction? Something else?

Go see your doc: Hearing problems and fullness need to be evaluated by a doctor and treated if a problem is found. Don't stick anything into the canal. Go see your doctor. They know what to do.

Hearing loss: Hello. Yes, now is the time to have your ears checked by your doctor. After you've tried the different methods that you have, there could be a wax impaction against your eardrum. A simple cleaning may just do the trick. Good luck.

See ENT specialist: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you. The disorder may be in the middle ear or in the inner ear. It would be prudent to see an ENT specialist for evaluation.

TMJ dysfunction: Temporo-mandibular disorder is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain. Headache, earache, sinus pain, neck pain and jaw pain are the common symptoms. Proper diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. See Orofacial Pain practitioner for a consultation and treatment options.

Went Primary Dr week ago, ear felt blocked, said little wax in ear could refer to ENT, also feel dizzy.

I have seen similar: I have seen similar symptoms in my practice with patients who have TMJ pressure from jaw/teeth clinching. Nocturnal (nighttime) clinching is related to anxiety/ stress and is quiet and not noticable by partner. Some additional symptoms include: headache, dizziness, ear pressure/ pain, clicking noise in front of ear, sore or sensitive teeth.

Sinus issues: Your symptoms could be a lot of things ranging from a deviated nasal septum to nasal polyps to chronic sinusitis. Even poorly controlled allergies could cause this. Nasal and sinus symptoms often cause problems with the eustachian tube, which will give the ears a plugged up feeling because it doesn't ventilate the middle ear. The eustachian tube connects the middle ear with the back of the nose.

For 1 week I feel exhausted and I had a blocked ear but doctor said it's only ear wax. What could it be?

Wax or other issues: If you had a viral syndrome (cold), last week, it is possible that your eustachian tube has swollen causing a sense of pressure or congestion in your ear. In some cases, there can be fluid in the middle ear. If the doctor cleaned out the ear wax and you still have blockage, then you should try decongestants and mucolytics like mucinex (guaifenesin). Also, consider an ENT evaluation to check out your problem.
