Well...: YOU SHOULD NOT BE TAKING PRAZAC AND ZOLOFT (sertraline) TOGETHER!
But your symptoms are very likely unrelated.

Reduce starting dose: This may not necessarily be a side effect of the Zoloft (sertraline)--you may be coming down with a viral illness that is causing the symptoms.

Assuming that this IS a series of Zoloft (sertraline) side effects, (entirely possible), I'd try cutting the dose in half for a few days, then increasing the dose if you encounter no problems at the lower dose. ...Read more

Is nausea headache shooting earache & shooting head pain teeth grinding dizzyness light headed all side effects of prozac (fluoxetine)?

Is nausea headache shooting earache & shooting head pain teeth grinding dizzyness light headed all side effects of prozac (fluoxetine)?

Not necessarily: Many of your symptoms appear to be related to a TMJ/TMD issue. Prozac (fluoxetine) does have some terrible side effects (bad effects,) and should be explored. But the question is if you had any of these symptoms prior to going on Prozac (fluoxetine). Get to your Dr. Or pharmacist and ask many questions. You may need more than one Dr. And/or a TMJ/TMD specialist. ...Read more

I am switching from prozac (was on 80mg for 4 weeks, didn't work lowered back to 40mg for 1 week then will start Zoloft (sertraline) 100mg instead) What to expect?

Hope for Success: I don't think you will experience any withdrawal symptoms. Prozac has a long half-life and takes a couple weeks to clear from the body. It is common to switch from one SSRI to another. I hope the change works for you. The medication Zoloft (sertraline) is usually well-tolerated with very few side effects. Sometimes it takes up to 8 weeks for med to work. Give it some time. Best wishes! ...Read more

I'm taking 200mg of sertraline a day, yet it doesn't help anymore, the same happened when I took citalopram and prozac, (fluoxetine) what others could I try?

I'm taking 200mg of sertraline a day, yet it doesn't help anymore, the same happened when I took citalopram and prozac, (fluoxetine) what others could I try?

Antidepressants: Your psychiatrist could consider augmenting your sertraline with other agents including abilify, (aripiprazole) wellbutrin, l-methyl folate, etc. Could consider changing to Effexor or cymbalta. For sure, psychotherapy needs to be part of your treatment rather than hoping for pharmaceuticals to manage the entire problem. Best wishes. ...Read more

Currently my tegretol level is 7.6. how much will the addition of Prozac raise tegretol or would Zoloft (sertraline) be a better choice?

Neither: The selective serotonin repute inhibitors (SSRI's) - that includes Prozac and Zoloft (sertraline) - are relatively contraindicated with tegretol - doe not mean that they cannot be used - just means they must be used with caution and other alternatives should be tried first. ...Read more

Hi, im just about to start zoloft (sertraline) after prozac pooped out after 8 yrs, should I be hopeful? Also does it matter starting on 25 or 50mg?

Always be hopeful!: If you really can't - don't do it until you can. The best start dose for you is the one your provider feels best about and can explain to you. Your confidence in them will make things go better than having doubts. But do ask! Best wishes. ...Read more

Similar Medicines: Prozac (fluoxetine) and zoloft (sertraline) beling to the same group of antidepressants. They are helpful about the same percentage of the time, but some individuals will do much better with one versus the other. The eventual dose of 100mg of sertraline is an average adult dose. My doctor switched me from Zoloft (sertraline) (50 mg) to prozac (10 mg) and I'm feeling the site effects of it. Is this normal? Without weaning from Zoloft (sertraline)?

Not surprising: While both Zoloft (sertraline) and Prozac are similar (SSRIs), patients often respond differently to the two medicines. So feeling some side effects from the change is not surprising. Typically our brains adjust to the change within 7-10 days without serious problems. However, if side effects persist or significantly disrupt your daily activities, contact your doctor and discuss your concerns. ...Read more

I have severe OCD of health issues and am also facing an auto immune diagnosis I can't stop crying and basixally planning my funeral I have tried Zoloft (sertraline) and Prozac nit working any advice?

Talk w/therapist: First, you need to know that an autoimmune diagnosis can be serious, but is not an automatic death sentence. Second, please know that medications do not replace the benefit of talking regularly with a skilled psychotherapist -- you should look for one who's comfortable with people going through medical procedures & what that's like. This could certainly be a psychiatrist if s/he does therapy! ...Read more

Don't be afraid: Zoloft (sertraline) is not likely to give you as much energy as prozac, but there is unlikely any need to be afraid. Zoloft (sertraline) has cleaner metabolism than prozac, however, and is less likely to cause syncope and palpitations than prozac. ...Read more
