For the past week I've had a terribly sore throat, headaches and a cold. Is an ear block one of the symptoms?
Could be...: "blocked" or "plugged ears" are quite common with colds and upper respiratory infections. Your eustacian tubes usually drain and ventilate your middle ear. These can get blocked up and swell just like the lining of your nose when you have a cold, and then your ear can feel blocked like when you fly/change altitude. Try chewing gum, "pop" your ears and get lots of fluids and humidity. ...Read more

I am on vacations and when I enter the pool my ear got block. I don't hear anything. What can I do?
That depends..: If you have cerumen build up (Wax), that may cause these issues, and the pressure gradient of the water against the wax causes the issues to accentuate. Inner ear congestion can act the same way. Try a decongestant or ear wax removal drop if that is the issue. See the Dr. If not better, and you would most likely benefit from ear plugs use in the future when swimming. ...Read more
