Dull Pain In The Left Side Of My Chest
I have a dull pain in the left side of my chest, about where the outer edge of the bra cup is. Should I be concerned?
Rib Pain: Ribs can crack with laughing and bear hugs, etc. Pain is increased with breathing and very local and sharp with pressure. If so, get and x-ray. Tender ribs can be Tietze Syndrome which is a tenderness in the cartilaginous part of the rib and can last months. It is exacerbated by rubbing or touching. In that case HANDS OFF! And take some Aleve (naproxen). It will pass.
I've had a dull pain in left side of my chest on &off for 3 weeks; I have a swollen gland under my neck at the same side - on &off for a few months.
See your doctor: Your symptoms may be signs of something significantly wrong. One cannot tell without a complete history, physical and possible lab/imaging tests. Follow with your doctor as soon as you can. Things that can cause pains in chest and ribcage include heartburn, pneumonia, gallbladder problems, liver disease, kidney problems, heart attacks, or blood clots.
I have just had a short stinging dull stingin pain in the left side of my chest just to the left of the left pictorial?
Not uncommon: The mechanism must involve a small nerve, similar to an eyelid twitch. Perhaps there was a minor injury, strain or trauma (that you don't recall. Also common:) I don't believe it is the sign of something more ominous down the road, such as MS. It can be classified as a minor annoyance, and you can be reassured.See 1 more doctor answer
A dull intermittent pain on the left side of my chest, towards the underarm, that pulsates, almost to the rhythm of my heart: heart problems, attack?
Multiple Causes: Chest pain can be a symptom of heart disease but may be may other things such as esophageal spasms, great vessel disease, respiratory disorders (asthma, COPD, bronchitis, infections), and muscle problems to name a few. It really depends on the clinical situation and other symptoms you may be having. You should see a doctor to get more information.
See physician: Usual causes of rib pain are trauma, musculosketal bruise, fx, or muscular strain.Inflammation in anterior cartilage so called costochondritis ( (viral or traumatic) can cause pain which reproduce by pushing on the involved cartilage in the front of the rib cage. Left chest pain historically associated with heart and gastrointestinal reflux. If fcontinues should see physician
Old or New?: There are many potential causes of chest pain, from musculoskeletal to respiratory to cardiac/heart, among others. Without a complete history & exam, it's impossible to determine the cause of your chest pain. You should make an appointment w/ your primary physician to determine what testing or treatment is needed. IF IT'S NEW CHEST PAIN WITH EXERTION, YOU SHOULD GO TO THE CLOSEST ER IMMEDIATELY
Everytime I lay on my side left/right a dull pain starts in my chest. It's like there is pressure on it. It has been a month since it started.
Unclear: This me or may not indicate a lung problem. There may be a simple explanation. Your evaluation will help clarify that this may mean.
I have had a dull pain in my chest that comes and goes feels like left side sometimes moves to the right breathing is fine dosent get worse with exerc?
Difficult: Since you don't give your age it's impossible to know whether or how serious this might be. However, chest pain that MOVES AROUND generally isn't dangerous. Also chest pain without breathing difficulty and not made worse with exercise is usually not dangerous. The only thing that comes to mind is some collection of gas in the esophagus or intestine. Avoid gas-producing foods; try simethicone.See 1 more doctor answer
Dull pain on behind left scapula at the bottom point. And left side of left chest swelling I have had it for the past 2 years 24 7.?
Doctor can evaluate: A person's left chest (nor his right chest) should not swell up for no reason. So, a primary care doctor can evaluate to see what the person is trying to describe. Also, the doctor can check what might be causing the left scapula pain (they may or may not be related). A chest x-ray and other tests might be needed.
Localized dull pain in left lateral chest for 3 days. Feels like it's my ribs or breastbone. Worse when laying on right side. Possible causes?
Prob not cardiac: If Rt handed, common to hurt muscles on Lft when carrying heavy things. Is there a trauma History? Is the pain constant? Can U reproduce pain with pushing where pain is (or make worse?). Sounds musculo-skeletal, should respond to low dose motrin w meals, if no contraindications (eg ulcer). If continues suggest seeing doctor and have an Xray of the region. Cardiac pain usually not constant 3 day
So I exercise daily been two days since but now I m experiencing a dull pain in chest on the left side and seems to worsen when lying down. Help?
Need to be evaluated: Just about all chest pain needs evaluation by a physician, but based on your age, I suspect this is musculoskeletal pain. This could be either muscular pain involving the pectoralis muscles or the junction between the ribs and cartilage called the costochondral area. In the interim, you can rest the area, apply an ice pack for 15-20 minutes 3-4x/day and take Advil or Aleve (naproxen).
My 13 year old has chest pains on the upper left side of her chest. It has a dull pain every time she takes a deep breath or moves a certain way.
Musculoskeletal: In adolescents, chest pain that is worse with movement is most typically musculoskeletal. There are joints, bones, and muscles that make up the chest wall and movement of these structures can be associated with pain for many reasons including injury or overuse. Other causes of chest pain are less likely to be worse with movement.
Dull pain, only left side of chest, at nipple. Ongoing 12 hrs. Every 30 secs, deep dull pain rises, tightening, then subsides with a "gurgle" feeling?
Go to the ER: If you're coughing, you could have bronchitis or (with the gurgle) pneumonia. The gurgle could also be reflux. Chest pain can be from muscle strain or cartilage irritation. However, even a young man can develop a blood clot in the lung or (rarely) heart disease. Pain every 30 seconds for 12 hours should cause you to go to the ER for an evaluation, just to make sure it isn't dangerous.
Hi I have left side chest pain, close to my arm pit and a couple in. Toward the centre of my chest. Hurts more when I move my arm. Dull pain otherwise?
Musculoskeletal: More sounds muscle origin. But if suseptible for CAD, and older age, hx DM, HTN, High Lipid.....get checked.
Have had a dull pain on left side of my neck for 7 days. 4 days ago I noticed a small cluster of 6 blisters right in the middle of chest. Shingles?
Likely not: Your question reveals a dull pain on lateral neck, then 4 days later a cluster of blisters in middle of the chest. Shingles is caused by the same virus as chicken pox, and lays dormant and usually strikes elderly people with weakened immune systems. Pain normally referred to as intense, and the blistering would not cross the midline, but be affecting a stripe unilaterally called a dermatome.
I'm having dull pain in left arm and the back of left leg also I can get this pain that comes on in my left side of chest what could it be?
Arm and leg: Sorry to hear about this. You MUST see your primary doctor as soon as possible. She/he will take your medical history, examine you, and then order some labs and possibly an xray. Hope all goes well - please keep me posted.
