But, if you have been ill recently (like with a cold), it could be something more serious related to your heart or lungs, and you should go have it checked. How fast is "fast"?: No fever? If you are an athlete with a baseline heart rate in the 40-50s (or not but in the 60-70s) and now you are pumping at a rate in the 90s or more, with a left-sided dull ache and painful breathing, then, yes. Given your age and: sex it is unlikely that your symptoms are cardiac in nature but having said that it is true that women's symptoms are often atypical. It it probably anxiety but set your mind at ease by seeking medical evaluation and testing. ...Read more

How do you know?: The doc who declared Cardiac is fine, can lend a helping hand and rule out other causes. A thorough history and physical are the first steps. From what limited information you gave it's very difficult to conclude anything. In the meantime, if you're not allergic and your kidneys are fine I would suggest you take some Aleve (naproxen). ...Read more
