Dull Ache Around Belly Button
What is located a couple inches to the right of a belly button? I get this dull ache or pain there when I sit down and was curious what it may be.
Have been having a dull aching pain about 2-3 inches left of belly button. It's constant for the past hr and happened yesterday as well. Why is this?
Need eval: As a young woman this is potentially the area of your ovaries. There is possibility of cyst or other ovary issue. This could be...: Many things. Including a pulled muscle or pain deeper in the abdomen. You may be able to tell if it is shallow pain (somatic) if you "push" out your belly several inches, then "suck" it in. If this causes local pain or if tender to touch, pain is likely a muscle and not worrisome. Pain around belly button could be adenitis (inflammed lymph node from recent infection) and should improve. A small lump is characteristic of a hernia. Hernia vs cyst: Most hernias aren't tender to touch. Those that hurt need to be evaluated immediately, regardless of anatomy. Any hernia can become more prominent w/valsalva maneuver (which increases pressure in belly). Cysts & abscesses won't change in size w/valsalva. Cysts shouldn't hurt unless infected. Where in your lower abdomen (right, mid, left) do you experience discomfort? Duration pain lasts? Is pain deep or superficial? Have you seen blood with stool or change in bowels?
