Swollen nasal passages for three months. Nasal swab found large amount of coagulase negative staph. Doctor wants me to take keflex. I was on keflex for 5 years low dose to treat e-coli UTI which is now resistant to keflex. Wont staph be resistant to?
No: A person doesn't get resistent to an antibiotic, but a germ can. If you have not been on keflex in the past months it would likely kill off some of the germs on your body. Use of a simple OTC nasal steroid spray like rhinocort would help with most causes of nasal membrane swelling. ...Read more
I have empty nasal syndrome, what is the best solution to keep nasal passage wet? Its getting dry and block often.
Irrigate: I assume that by saying empty nasal syndrome you mean that you have had multiple sinus surgeries and have chronic nasal crusting and dryness. Unfortunately that is a consequence of outdated sinus surgery, though at the time this was thought to be the best modality. Irrigating often with a high flow saline irrigation, much more than simple ocean spray is typically quite helpful. I like the neilmed system that can be purchased from the grocery store and is inexpensive. Seeing your physician and considering adding pulmicort, something typically used to treat asthma or emphysema by inhalation into the lungs can be quite helpful with this condition. ...Read more

Men are from Mars!: Seriously, from a physiological or allergic point of view, it can be safely said that no two humans are alike, let alone a married couple.
