1 week or more: A dry socket indicates that it will take the body much longer to heal than normal. If the normal person begins to feel better after 2-3 days, it is not unusual to see healing delayed for a week or longer in cases of dry socket.

Sounds ok: Since you are not having any pain, it sound like you are healing fine. I wouldn't worry about any spots unless they get painful or inflamed. It takes months for the extraction area to completely heal over. See your dentist if you still have concerns.

If I have a healing dry socket no pain is it ok to rinse with warm sea salt water? I also use the prescribed mouthwash. Is that enough? What's best?

Healing extraction: You are doing everything you can. Prevent any food from getting stuck in the extraction site. Gently brush the adjacent teeth. You should be ok.

I've lost the blood clot on my molar less than 24 hours after extraction. Will I now definitely get dry socket? The pain is only slightly worse now.

Dry socket: Not necessarily that you will have a dry socket as if there was an excess of the clot which came off then you shall be fine. But disturbance of the clot is usually the reason for a dry socket. 24 or less a new clot may develop.

I got my 32nd impacted wisdom tooth pulled 10 days ago. I know I have a dry socket. Having pain in my ear. Could it be an ear infection?

1st see your dentist: A dry socket can create radiating pain and could mimic ear pain. A recent extraction needs to be evaluated by the dentist or oral surgeon who extracted the tooth, to determine if it is actually a dry socket, if it is not a dry socket, then you should see an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat physician).

How do you treat dry socket pain?

Treatment:: Local treatment (dressing) or packing the socket) can be provided by a dentist, and a general medication such as antibiotics can help with the infection. But best medication is prevention, allow a proper blood clot the time to form before rinsing or eating on the side, no smoking for a few days after the extraction and especially if you have already Ardy socket.

How long does dry socket pain usually last?

Soon if treated: If you truly have a dry socket, where the clot has washed out of the socket where a tooth was removed, leaving bone exposed to the oral environment, prompt treatment will help eliminate quickly. Go back to the oral surgeon who performed the extraction. He can medicate and seal off the socket which will give you quick relief.

I had lower second molar extracted 5 days ago, the blood clot has shrunk and turned white, am I out of woods of getting dry socket? Still minor pain

Most likely: At this point, barring something unusually, you should be fine and well on your way to healing with the chance of a dry socket. When that does occur, it usually happens 2-3 days following the extraction and one develops severe pain. Continue to rinse gently after meals and avoid really hard foods in that area for the next week. See your dentist for a follow-up visit.

Be patient: It is common to experience pain and swelling after wisdom tooth extraction. It may last for 7-10 days. If you experience severe pain or swelling 7 days after tooth removal, visit your dentist to rule out any complications.

Multiple issues: It's not uncommon to have multiple issues going on at the same time. First you have the pain and discomfort of the surgery. Second, your jaw was open for a long time. Third, pain often radiates and refers to other areas. Plus you've got the stress of dealing with all of this. Soft diet, anti-inflammatory pain medication, rest and time should resolve the issues shortly. If not call your dentist.

After 9days of wisdom teeth extraction, it bled heavily last night, I went to see the doc, he says there is no infection or dry socket since no pain.?

After 9days of wisdom teeth extraction, it bled heavily last night, I went to see the doc, he says there is no infection or dry socket since no pain.?

Not OK: Tooth extraction is a surgical procedure and is not completely risk-free. Pain, swelling, bad breath and infection following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. See your dentist or an oral surgeon for post-op appointment and treatment. Take care.

I have an ulcer near a dry socket. How to differentiate pain between them? Can sleep through the night but start to feel pain once waking up

I have an ulcer near a dry socket. How to differentiate pain between them? Can sleep through the night but start to feel pain once waking up

Oral surgeon: Hard to differentiate. Have oral surgeon evaluate and treat dry socket with medicated pack. If pain persists, is due to ulcer. Ulcer should heal soon. Ask for pain meds.

I had a tooth extracted yesterday and hours later I saw white in the socket. Can I use dry socket paste to avoid pain? I'm also treating an abscess

I had a tooth extracted yesterday and hours later I saw white in the socket. Can I use dry socket paste to avoid pain? I'm also treating an abscess

White=normal healing: The white in the socket is normal after an extraction. There is nothing wrong and you should not be fearful of a dry socket at this time. Think of the white in the socket as the scab over the extraction site. If you have a scab on your arm that gets wet it will appear soft and white-ish. This is basically the same thing. If the tooth was abscessed before removal, it will now heal with the tooth ou.

I got one wisdom tooth removed, it was an easy extaction. Its been over 48hrs and I don't know if I have dry socket. Ihave a dull pain in my jaw?

Hard to say: Dull pain can possibly just be post-surgery reaction to the extraction. If there is swelling or extreme pain, it could be a dry socket. Best to call the oral surgeon/dentist and possibly be seen just to be sure.

4 wisdom teeth removed 7 days ago am I clear of dry socket? I have no harsh pain just achy. Dissolve Stitches are also in still what should I do?

Should be OK: 7 days is past the risk window for a dry socket. Significant pain and a foul taste are indications of that post-extraction complication. Depending on the complexity of the extractions a little achiness a week out is probably normal. If it isn't resolving in a few days, get it looked at though. Good Luck!

What is "dry socket"?

Bad: Basically the clot that was supposed to form after tooth extraction is either never formed or removed....Both usually due to improper care. It's the exposure of bone and great pain follows. Http://www. Animated-teeth. Com/dry-sockets/a1-dry-sockets. Htm should help you with all the info.

Signs of a dry socket?

Dry socket or not?: Dry socket has two simple signs: 1 aching, throbbing pain in the gum or jaw. 2. Horrible taste and smell in your mouth. Since dry socket occurs exclusively following a dental extraction, no extraction--no dry socket.
