Post extraction: BD taste can be part of the healing process especially if there was an infection. It is too so for Sinful dry socket. Why are you still using gauze in your mouth. If I have a slow leakage (liver clot) after tooth extraction, (even with an hour of applied gauze) is this a bad thing? Could dry socket occur?

Really?: Sometimes we get what we are looking for. How long ago was the tooth extracted? An hour of gauze with light pressure isn't enough to determine a problem. While a dry socket is possible it is not likely. I suspect you are worrying too much and disturbing the area too much. ...Read more

Dry Socket: Blood clot will most likely form. The gauze does not prevent the clot from falling out. Avoid gargling and rinsing aggressively for a few days and you will probably be fine. Any problems please call your surgeon. ...Read more

Saw my OMS doctor today and he packed my wisdom tooth extraction with medicated gauze for my dry socket it feel out and now my socket is huge. Normal?

Very Common: The gauze packing should be removed and replaced every 24 hours until symptoms subside. At this point you should treated the dry socket by flushing the extraction site with warm salt water solution and packing the socket with gauze or a gelatin sponge by yourself. I got treated for dry socket, he put a guaze over it for me to bite down on. Im confused. Can i remove the guaze to eat/drink?Theres brown stuff on it

Yes: The brown stuff is a special 'paste' with things like eugenol in it to deaden the pain. The medicine should be down in the socket, and the gauze was just to keep it in place and prevent it from being washed out. If you still have questions, contact your surgeon. ...Read more

Smoking: If you smoke, all bets are off. Smoking delays and alters healing, not to mention that it will eventually kill you. You shouldn't need gauze for more than a few hours. If you are still bleeding today, 3 days after the extraction, you need to see the Dentist or Oral Surgeon for a reexamination. ...Read more
