Vicious cycle: This is fairly common. Something (could be anything) triggered itching, so you scratched it, which made it itch more, which makes you scratch more, and on and on. The solution is to stop scratching, which breaks the cycle. I realize that is hard. A dermatologist can give you creams and anti-itch medications to help you. Creams, not gels: The treatment would depend on the severity of the acne. Gels are more drying than creams, and more likely to cause irritation. The otc benzoyl peroxide preps tend to have alcohol, and can irritate. A prescription, water based benzoyl peroxide would be less drying.
