Dry Ears No Wax
Skin and wax gland: Cerumen or ear wax is a product of sloughed off dead skin and the compound produced by your cerumen glands in your outer ear canal. The consistency can range from moist to dry and flaky. It depends on the relative oil content of the cerumen gland product and amount of sloughed off skin. ...Read more
My right ear is clogged with dry ear wax. I've tried using ear drops on it, but it hasn't been working. My mom says cotton tips are too dangerous as well. I only have about $2 right now, so I don't know what else I can use to get it out.
If you have insurance you should see a docotr for a procedure called an ear lavage. Ear drops are placed in the ear, then the ear is irrigated with another solution (typically hydrogen peroxide) to dislodge the wax. A doctor can then use a special instrument to remove any remaining wax. If you do not have insurance tell your mom to find a free or low cost clinic in your area.
Best of luck. ...Read more
What you are feeling is wax that is soft and melted by your body heat. You can use peroxide in your ear every 3 to 4 days. Let it bubble for 3 to 5 mins.
You may use a hair dryer to dry the ear canal after you let it drain out. Make sure the hair dryer is at a low setting and not too hot to burn the ear drum.
Good luck and feel better! ...Read more
Why is my ear wax incredibly, extremely, seriously dry and flaky? It's been like this since I was little.
It happens: Some people make a sticky soft ear wax and some make it dry and almost rock like. It varies within families and is likely just a combination of genetic factors and environmental events. Find a good ear wax dissolving agent and use it occasionally and it should make life easier. Avoid using Q-tips. ...Read more
I have not had any wax in either one of my ears for several years. Q tip always clear and I try daily. My skin is very dry. Is this normal?
No Q-tips: Cerumen or wax in the ear canal is normal and protective. It always migrates from inside to outside. Therefore, using a blunt instrument does 2 things. It pushes the wax back in and is a frequent cause of impacted wax against the ear drum. Your ears are probably dry and itchy because of the constant use of q-tips. If skin is dry a dermatologist may help. Stop using q-tips. ...Read more

If ear drum is perforated, but the ear is impacted with wax, will a doctor try to flush it? Will it make perforation worse if flushed? Or keep it dry?
See an ENT: If your doctor wants to flush it when you think you may have a perforation, then go to see an ent. Flushing a perforation is not a good idea. Usually we can clean the ear from impacted wax under a microscope, once its gone, then we can determine if there is a perforation or not. ...Read more

Possible sinus infection. Dr gave me amoxicillin 875 mg tid for 10 days. Used for 4 days now. Why would dried ear wax come out next morning?
Is pouring hydrogen peroxide in your ears ok to do? I've tried and heard it helps dry out wax and helps with ear infections
Wax in ears: Hydrogen peroxide can help loosen wax in the outer ear so it can drain out on its own. Never use q-tips in your ears as they push wax back in. There are little hairs that brush the wax out as long as it is soft and loose- so the peroxide helps with that. It won't prevent middle ear infection- those are behind the ear drum. ...Read more
Only outside: Wax production is a normal process. It is only advisable to wipe away what you observe with a damp soft cloth or baby wipe. Never place anything inside your baby's ear smaller than your elbow. Placing anything inside your baby's ear may cause a puncture to the ear drum. Specifically a Q tip. All the best. ...Read more
