See DR: Seborrheic dermatitis is very common. Frequently ear drops containing aminoglycosides are used. These are common sensitizers. The allergic contact dermatitis due to neomycin or colymycin or bacitracin results in itch + weeping + sweling. Itch may be so severe as to cause brisk rubbing. My right ear is clogged with dry ear wax. I've tried using ear drops on it, but it hasn't been working. My mom says cotton tips are too dangerous as well. I only have about $2 right now, so I don't know what else I can use to get it out.
If you have insurance you should see a docotr for a procedure called an ear lavage. Ear drops are placed in the ear, then the ear is irrigated with another solution (typically hydrogen peroxide) to dislodge the wax. A doctor can then use a special instrument to remove any remaining wax. If you do not have insurance tell your mom to find a free or low cost clinic in your area.
Best of luck. ...Read more

I have been advised to keep my ears dry due to Cholesteatoma. What happens if you get a Cholesteatoma wet?
Infection: The water carries bacteria from the ear canal skin with it and can cause infection of the cholesteatoma. Such an infection would lead to increased pain, drainage, possible progression of hearing loss. If you have not been advised already, I would consider consultation with an ear surgeon to have the cholesteatoma removed to make your ear dry and safe., particularly at your age. ...Read more
Earwax: Some people's earwax may have an odor. For those people, check with a doctor to make sure that your eardrum is intact so that you can use mineral oil to keep it soft and moving outward. Clean daily with a tissue on a finger. Do not use cotton swabs since they tend to push the wax in deeper rather than getting it out. In the absence of pain or thick drainage, there is little risk of infection. ...Read more

Try a wet washcloth to clear it out. Best wishe ...Read more
My throat feels dry and my ears feel pressure. It started yesterday. I don't smoke or take medicines. Did I get the flue?
Sounds more allergy: Your symptoms sound more like allergies than flu. First, it's not usual time of year in canada, so that makes it unlikely. Second, you usually have very significant cough, body aches and fever with influenza - and you didn't describe any of these. It could also just be a summer cold with a virus, but does not fit influenza "flu" criteria. ...Read more
