Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more

What is the best natural treatment for a dry cough?

What is the best natural treatment for a dry cough?

See your doc: It really depends on the source, which may be out of the scope of this forum. I would follow up with your doc for a longer discussion. Two very common causes are acid reflux and seasonal allergies, but this all depends on where you live. You can always consider a trial of allergy or reflux medication, but the better bet is see your doctor.

What is the best treatment for dry cough in elderly with less side effects and cause no sedation (e.g lozenges) if allergic response is the cause?

What is the best treatment for dry cough in elderly with less side effects and cause no sedation (e.g lozenges) if allergic response is the cause?

The cause: There are many reasons which can cause a dry cough and one really needs to get examined by a doctor to find out. I would usually start by measuring the lung function to find out whether a patient has asthma then go from there.

Dry cough: In an elderly taking antihypertensive medications: first-off, it might be due to the antihypertensive drug itself if it is from some group like ACE inhibitors. Second, you need to see a doctor for several reasons for dry cough, local or systemic, best wishes

Any home remedy for wheezing and dry cough, my son 9year old frequently suffering, feeling bad of giving him antibiotic more...

See an allergist: It looks like your child may be suffering from asthma related to respiratory infections, see an allergist to determine if he has allergies and treat the asthma properly, antibiotics will not address it.

I have a dry cough when the temperature is cold but am fine in warm weather. Am I suffering from a cold allergy? Also, is there any treatment? Thanks

Cough: It may be you have a type of asthma triggered by exposure to cold. Pulmonary Function tests may help or a trial of a bronchodilator such as albuterol prior to cold exposure. Often heat is turned on this time of year, including use of wood which may cause coughing. Hope this helps and that you feel better.

My father had dry cough after flu episode he also took cordarone (amiodarone) 200 is this cough due to cordarone (amiodarone) what is the treatment for it?

Post-viral: Sometimes a cough may linger for weeks after flu or a viral infection but one needs to rule out infection-triggered asthma or a sinus infection also. Cordarone (amiodarone) is not expected to cause a cough but if it does, changing to another drug would be the only treatment.

My father experience paroxysmal dry cough he take betaloc 50 amlodipine and cordarone (amiodarone) 200mg for Afib what is the cause of cough and treatment please?

Cough cause: You do not mention it but your dad may be on an ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor for high blood pressure. A well known side effect of that class of drugs is cough. It usually diminishes with time but if it is too much for him his doc can stop the med and manage his B/P with other medicine.

Mom 50- frequent bronchitis since winter with dry cough- constantly losing voice keeps going to ER for breathing treatment, no history smoking xray negative keeps needing prednisone/inhaler, is this serious?

Does she hav asthma?: If she has history of asthma or allergies? If not she need formal chest x-ray and pulmonary function test. Some times it can be granulomatous condition. If it is asthma or allergies she need antihistamines or inhaled steroid on daily basis to prevent recurrence of flares. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

What's the cure for dry cough and vocal and talking hoarseness and sore throat. Why does it happen to singers and what's the home remedy cure for it?

What's the cure for dry cough and vocal and talking hoarseness and sore throat. Why does it happen to singers and what's the home remedy cure for it?

Vocal chord strain: Vocal chord strain requires rest soothing beverages antiinflammatories and proper warmup and vocal exercises. It's basically like a sports injury. Singers are not immune to allergies and post nasal drip, viral pharyngitis or strep throat and if over exerted may be more likely to have a sore throat. If dysphagia or odynophagia present see md.

My dad is currently going through radiation treatment due to oral cancer and has mouth sores and throat irritation. What meds are good for dry cough?

My dad is currently going through radiation treatment due to oral cancer and has mouth sores and throat irritation. What meds are good for dry cough?

Saliva aids...: Ask his doctor (s) or dentist to prescribe pilocarpine lozenges or lollipops if appropriate, try to find Xylimelts at local pharmacy, products from PerioSciencres www. PerioSciences. Com will be very beneficial. As a last resort get sugar free lemon drop hard candies. I prefer the other options first.

What are the best herbal home remedies for a kid with a dry cough?

What are the best herbal home remedies for a kid with a dry cough?

Homeopathy, actually: This is not the same as an "herbal" treatment. But classical homeopathy actually has many medicines ("remedies") that stimulate healing of cough. Different kinds of coughs correspond to different homeopathic remedies, so you'd have the best chance of success by consulting a homeopath. But the remedy rumex can help a tickling, irritated dry cough that gets worse when undressing or uncovering.

Been having this dry cough and nothing is breaking up my congestion. Any home remedies?

Been having this dry cough and nothing is breaking up my congestion. Any home remedies?

Home remedies: Hydrate well. Consider using a warm air vaporizer. Mix several teaspoons of honey into herbal tea with a squeeze of lemon juice. Or make tea with 2 tsp of marshmallow root bark per 1cup of hot water (steep in a covered pot for at least 5 minutes). Drink several times a day or as needed to relieve coughing. See a physician if your cough is not resolving, difficulty breathing or temp > 104.

Please describe to me home remedies for a dry cough?

Please describe to me home remedies for a dry cough?

None specific: If your cough is of few days and not more than a week and w/o fever, you can increase water intake; do saline gargles at night or 2x/day; increase your vitc intake with fruits or tablets, hopefully helps. If your cough is w/ fever, you need to see an md to r/o bacterial infection. If you're asthmatic with cough, see md asap. For cough >than 2 weeks, you need a doctor's evalauation.
