Sounds like a cold: Medication for colds is not really recommended for children. As long as he is breathing well and drinking enough to stay well hydrated you may want to consider giving him a spoonful of honey for his throat and nasal saline mist for the nose multiple times a day. Mgt/workup: Sometimes during a viral illness there can be bleeding from small vessels which lining the nose, throat and airways. The blood may be from the uppper airway rather than the lungs.
