See a doctor.: Without more details it's hard to say, but you mention aches, fatigue and dehydration under "conditions". You may have a viral infection (a cold) that will resolve with home care, but it's impossible to say. Your best bet is to call your doctor's office, or visit urgent care so that someone can see you and listen to your lungs in person. ...Read more

I have a chronic dry cough that lasts for weeks, but I am not sick. Non-smoker, no allergies. What is causing this, and how can I treat it?

Many possibilities: Asthma, reflux, undiagnosed allergies with post nasal drip cover about 90% of undiagnosed cough. See your doc to work through these possibilities; if it isn't one of these there are dozens of other possibilities, and you need to work closely with your doc to help get to the bottom of it and stop it. ...Read more

Need diagnosis....: In order to treat your cough, the etiology of the cough needs to be diagnosed first. Bronchospasm may be causing your cough, especially with shortness of breath. Other possibilities include GERD, post-nasal drip, bronchitis or a combination of factors. These all have different treatments so see your doctor ASAP for diagnosis and treatment. Why would I have a tickle when I breath in air and it makes me have a dry cough. My chest and back hurts so much....am not sick no other symptoms?

Possible...: One of the most common reasons for prolonged cough is allergies. It sounds like this might be your problem since you are experiencing itching with your symptoms. The chest and back could be irritated because of the cough expanding your chest wall, and it could also be related to your airways reacting to the inflammatory body response. For confirmation see your doctor and get examined and treated. ...Read more

Cold: The usual head cold lasts about one week and if it travels to the trachea (windpipe) or bronchial tubes a cough develops. Irritation after this may cause a dry, hacking cough for another week for which robitussinDM helps. However if copious, discolored sputum, fever, chills, wheezing, chest pain or shortness of breath develop, see a physician as antibiotics may be needed and a chest x-Ray can be done. ...Read more
