Flipped pattern: This is common to parents who believe they should let baby sleep during the day if they had a bad night. Babies are pattern creatures and this continues until you stop it. If problem is recurrent or seasonal then allergy should be considered. ...Read more

Time for a visit: Most viral infections (colds) should improve after a week. Since your child's symptoms have lasted longer than that and are expanding I would consider a medical office visit. There is a mild respiratory infection - Mycoplasma - that can cause mild cough for weeks especially at night. ...Read more

Mgt: It can take up to three weeks to recover from a viral illness. If her mom has a nasal swab to screen for respiratory viruses, this will be provide additional information. Other possible causes include pertussis, is there nasal congestion or drainage? If so, infant nasal drops and gentle suction can alleviate post nasal drip. I would suggest an evaluation particularly if there is fever. ...Read more
