Drug Gabapentin Used For Pain Relief
I take gabapentin for my fibromyalgia, but the helpful effects seemed to have worn off. I'm in excruciating, constant pain. Any suggestions?
A recent study showed that in a hospitalized group of patients it was not the actual degree of pain relief that determined patient satisfaction. It was the perceived concern on the part of the heath care providers and their attempts to alleviate the degree of pain that mattered. Even ...Read more

Ketamine?: With all these medications, you clearly need to be working with a pain medicine specialist. OK to mix: Gabapentin is metabolized via the kidney and has no substantial drug reaction with tramadol. Both could cause drowsiness and dizziness, and this could be additive. Although tramadol could rarely cause seizures, Gabapentin suppresses szs, so this essentially cancels out. So, in essence, with your doctor's very close supervision, you likely will do fine. ...Read more

If i find relief by taking gabapentin does that mean I have crps? Emg made my crps so bad.. In worst pain ever!
No it doesn't: Pain relief on the basis of a particular drug never specifies (or rules in) a specific reason or diagnosis of what's causing the pain. It simply means you respond to the medication. And that's not a bad thing since you are suffering less. Diagnosing crps requires another approach and fulfillment of diagnostic criteria. Your doctor can help you understand what's involved. ...Read more
Taking gabapentin 300mg three times a day for meralgia paresthetica. Started six days ago. No relief. How long before this stuff kicks in?
Are we there yet?: You're pretty close to when you should be feeling something with that particular dose. I tend to titrate people rather slowly (1 pill escalate weekly) so it depends how your doctor told you to ramp this medication up but if you've been going 3x/day right from the get go then, maybe a few more days to a week at best. If you're no better then, either the dose is too low or medication inadequate. ...Read more

I am currently in a drug court program and subject to random drug screens, would it be safe for me to take gabapentin?
Smaller doses of gabapentin better then higher doses? Bioavailability seems higher with lower doses so wouldn't you get more of the drug on lower dose
Gabapentin: true but at the same time you need a high dose of gabapentin in your system for it to work. Usually 1200mg. So lets say you take 300mg, and you absorb all 300... thats great but all you have is 300mg in your system. Now take 900mg. Lets say bioavailability fall to 75%. Well 75% of 900 is still way more in your system than 300mg. Oral absorbtion is generally like this. ...Read more
