Doubtful: Unless you have a legitimate medical condition, it would be unlikely that you could get a prescription for marinol. This, of course, is if you go to an ethical doctor. Unfortunately, there are too many doctors (many seem to be located in florida) that will prescribe any medication for anyone as long as they are willing to pay. The good news is that the dea is closing these practices down! ...Read more
No: Not an effective treatment for glaucoma because it doesn't lower the eye pressure for that long or that much (thus side effects are worse than therapeutic benefit). However, scientists are trying to study the effects to see if a safe drug compound can be derived from the active ingredient. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Marijuana better!: The cannabis plant contains over 100 different medically-active cannaboids, whereas Marinol is a synthetic version of the most prominent cannaboid, thc. Thc makes people "stoned" & can help with pain & nausea, but many of the medical benefits of marijuana come from other cannaboids like cannabadiol, that do not make one stoned! most who try both feel the whole plant works much better. See comment:. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Why are doctors more likely to prescribe dangerous schedule 2 meds like amphetamine and oxy but hesitant to Rx marinol?
Meds are familiar: Doctors are willing to prescribe schedule 2 drugs for conditions that the Food and Drug Adminstration has approved them. I have been treated for fibromyalgia and degenerative joint and disc disease for years. Is marinol effective for chronic pain? I am very leery of opioids.
Marinol: Marinol seems to help more with nausea & stimulating appetite, than with chronic pain. People with cancer or other illnesses who have lost their appetites and have lost too much weight benefit from this. It's nothing like opiates for pain control. Many medicines and treatments can work better for fibromyalgia than opiates. I hope you and your physicians can find a helpful regimen for you! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
On marinol for nausea & vomiting but have DTP and malabsorption. Works well when it finally absorbs. Can i chew the marinol capsule before swallowing?
It doesn't matter: The active ingred. in Marinol is fat soluble that is why the capsules encapsulate an oil. Expressing the oil will likely not do much to facilitate absorption but you could try. Effects from oral use of THC products are delayed and in part why they are safer for medical use. Consider using the Marinol tid routinely for 3 to 5 days to maintain levels. If you "feel" something after use try less. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
