Following drinking alcohol and when I drink water it gives me diarrhea, why?

Drinking and diarrhea: Diarrhea can be caused ethanol ingestion. Consumption of alcohol affects the body's capability to absorb water - after a heavy drinking session. The alcohol is absorbed in the intestines -the intestinal cells absorb it, the toxicity causes these cells to lose their ability to absorb water. This leads to an outpouring of fluid from the intestinal lining. Suggest to cut down. Read more

Drinking water during night... Is it bad. Do we have to give rest to our kidney? Or is it a myth?

Drinking water during night... Is it bad. Do we have to give rest to our kidney? Or is it a myth?

Water is healthy: Drinking water and plenty of it throughout the day (as long as it is not contaminated) is good for the kidneys. They don't need a rest--especially at 25. Most don't drink enough. The water will help clear uric acid from your body and keep the kidneys functioning normally. Worst problem is having to wake to urinate during the night. Read more

My daughter of 5 years has bad sickness & diarrhoea and can't keep water down, what do you suggest we do? Not give her any drink?

Hydrate!: Depriving her of hydration would be the worst thing for her health, and a dangerous idea. Not drinking + fever + diarrhea are all ways she is at risk of dehydration. You should get her seen by her doctor or an urgent care or emergency department. She may need IV fluid and other medicine to get her through. This is of more urgency if she hasn't been making urine today- means she's very dry. Read more
