I'm currently prescribed claravis (accutane) 80mg bid. My dermatologist says I can drink alcohol, but I have mix reviews. Can I drink alcohol accutane?
How much drinking??: According to drugs.Com interactions checker, alcohol and Isotretinoin have at least a moderate interaction, significant enough that they recommend against drinking on this drug, and warn that there may be increased side effects with the combination, including more reddening of the skin. Accutane: Accutane is metabolized through the liver and can cause irritation of the liver and elevation of liver functions on bloodwork. Alcohol can do the same and should be avoided when taking accutane. Drinking while taking it may inflame your liver and cause damage or at least force your doctor to stop the Accutane treatment. ...Read more

The concern is..: That you have a much higher chance of developing pancreatitis, which is very painful and debilitating, if you drink while taking the Accutane, even just for a night. Probably you signed an agreement with your physician that you would monitor your mood, not become pregnant, and abstain from alcohol. How long do I have to wait to start drinking alcohol after my Accutane treatment. Doesn't it take a month or two to get out of your system?
You are only 17: You are under age to drink alcohol in united states.but if it is a theoretical question then I will answer it. You are advised not to drink alcohol with Accutane as there can be liver toxicity as both can affect the liver.
