Antabuse: Drinking damages liver way more than Antabuse does. Antabuse is fairly low risk as far as liver damage. I would not compromise on drinking while on Antabuse due to severe interaction side effects Antabuse and drinking have. At least 24 hours: Wait at least 24 hours after drinking, to take any antabuse. If alcohol is used in cooking, it is generally burned off in the process -- no longer available as free alcohol to cause a reaction. What are the downsides to Antabuse or similar? Seems like a no brainer if one wants a bit of neg reinforcement to alcohol consumption?
Can't drink: If you are serious about not drinking it can be helpful--if you impulsively drink you may end up in the ER! People who really don't want to quit say shaving lotion makes them sick or what if they eat something cooked in wine etc. Sounds like you are serious about not drinking & it should be of help to you! ...Read more
