Have glass of wine at dinner and 3 hours later take .5 mg ativan (lorazepam) for sleeping. Dr said alcohol with such a low dose of ativan (lorazepam) is not a problem. Okay?
Valium (diazepam) is an older benzodiazepine tranquilizer. It was the #1 prescribed drug (of any kind) in the us in the late 1960s but is used less now due to drug interactions and active metabolites. It is still used for anxiety and as "pre-medication" for uncomfortable medical and minor surgical procedures. It is habit-forming, should not be used with alcohol, ...Read more

The X-Games Begin!: You know the old saying (attributable to a lot of persons) "moderation in all things," which I take to mean 'all things that make any sense." So take it easy, bearing in mind that alcohol and other fun substances could multiply any side effects of the Viagra (sildenafil) (like falling flat on your face). So nurse one glass (not 'a few') at first and see how it goes. But don't make it an X-games experiment... ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I take 10mg of buspirone daily for situational anxiety. Is it ok to have a small glass of wine or a beer once every 1-2 months?
Other viewpoints?: I'm not an expert on this. I'd think such a wee amount would not cause a great problem. As you seem to know it is generally not advised to drink any alcohol with this drug. If you can control your intake to this level - i expect you'll be fine. I also wonder if you might question the need for such a powerful medication. Think about psychotherapy as an alternative with tapering off the drug. Best. ...Read more
