No: Poppy seeds contain extremely minute amounts of the opium alkaloids morphine and codeine, which give your bagel a nutty zing and can cause you to fail a drug test (as demonstrated in a famous mythbusters episode). Poppy pod tea: Poppy Tea is a "drink" made from the crushed pods of the plant Papaver Somniferum. It has psychoactive alkaloids in it like codeine, etc. A uniform "recipe" for this tea doesn't exist. Be aware that some drinkers have OD'd & died from crushing too many pods for their tea. Yes: We try to avoid feeding a little kid any product with loose seeds that they might inhale. Those can lead to recurrent pneumonia that is hard to understand/treat. These may require us to look into their airways and retrieve the seed.
