I had a cotton swob that touched dried blood on paper before touching my wound (from taking blood from a needle) , are the chances high of catching he?
No: I would say the chances are pretty slim of catching any disease this way. There is no risk of catching HIV this way. The most contagious virus would be hepatitis B, and the odds of the blood being contaminated by this virus is very small in Canada. The entire country only had 2000 known cases out of a population of 35 million! Pretty slim odds of coming in contact with Hep B! ...Read more

Deliveryman brought plastic for mattress he's cut on his hand n blood was on it. Touched blood on it.i got cut n bad allergy on hand redness. Hiv risk?
Stop worrying: The deliveryman bled all over your mattress plastic, and you touched the dried blood where you have a cut and a rash on your hand? This is still an unrealistic fear. Dried blood is a solid and isn't going to percolate into tissues; even your rash and your cut are sealed by your fibrin. With concerns like these, you'd do well to get with your physician and talk about your fears generally. ...Read more

Blood in my stool. Dark red like period blood on the toilet paper but in the toilet it looked pinkish red. I've had diarrhea for 3days no blood til now?
Hard to say: I suspect you have a problem that may resolve on its own. You may have rectal bleeding due to the diarrhea; you may have ruptured a hemorrhoid . If the bleeding continues, you should see a physician. Primary care doctors could do a small scope procedure to examine the inside of your rectum to help diagnose the problem. You could have an anal fissure that is bleeding. See doc! Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Dark red blood when I go poop mixed in and falling from inside of the butt. Thin red worm looking things on toilet paper. Suggestions?
Yikes!: Are the thin red worm-looking things moving? You are bleeding from your colon. This could be an infection, or the beginnings of inflammatory bowel disease. Get care *immediately.* You need comprehensive lab work (CBC-d, autoimmune & coag panel, LFTs, stool culture & microscopy), preliminary imaging & most likely a colonoscopy. Practice thorough hand washing & check for similar symptoms in family. ...Read more
Q-Tips bad idea-Why?: Big ; pack cerumen (ear wax) deeper into canal, the portion you do not see come out. Only the middle third of the ear canal skin secretes waxes which help prevent infection ; slowly remove particles/bacteria from ear canal in association with chewing. This skin is also quite thin, over bone ; can easily be traumatized. Better strategy:: work shampoo into each canal with finger tips at hair wash. ...Read more
