I have low iron and vitamin d. I need to gain some weight fast. I also have IBS and night sweats every night....so should I drink ensure or boost everyday to put some ponds on (like maybe 15 to 20 pounds within a month)?
Calories: Ensure and boost are good sources of extra calories, but ou must also eat plenty of good quality food on a balanced diet. Sounds like you're already seeing a doctor about your problem and they have sent lab tests. Green leafy vegetables have lots of iron. Ask your doctor for advice, or consult with dietician. Hope this helps! ...Read more
I'm on the mirena (levonorgestrel) have been for 2 years have a period monthly just got off my last period 2 weeks ago am having bad menstrual pains feel movement in stomach could I be pregnant if I have a period monthly?
Would be rare: The failure rate for Mirena (levonorgestrel) is very low around 1% or less. The presence of cycles doesn't matter in regards to pregnancy rate. Many patients have no cycles on Mirena (levonorgestrel) but not a higher pregnancy rate. Just check a pregnancy test if you have concerns. ...Read more
Are dr's on h.T. Willing to do phone or email consults to help point someone in the right direction medically?
No: That is not the purpose of health tap. We don't replace the dr/patient relationship and part of that is a complete history and physical to make that diagnosis to get you on the right path. I'm sure if you look you might be able to find a free clinic in your area of you do not have insurance. Where I live they are often associated with churches. ...Read more

Chest symptoms: You don't really provide enough information to advise you rigorously. An angiogram is not necessarily the first test we would want to do in a 23y/o male. You could consult another physician who can obtain more information from you so you can get a more informed second opinion. ...Read more

Abbreviations: I think you’re saying there was no heart beat a sonogram that measures 6 weeks when you thought that you were really 9 weeks. Clarify the findings with your doctor. Most likely they either confirmed a miscarriage or suggested that it might be too early to see a baby and suggested you return in a week to repeat the sonogram. Question?: Found what?? on ultrasound- your question seems to be cut off?? Dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain) has many underlying causes and your should follow up with your GYN. Sometimes medication and hormonal therapy work. I fn not allergic to nsaids like Advil or Aleve- I suggest trying Aleve- 2 tab initially then 1 tab every 8 hrs on a full stomach OR ibuprofen 2-3 tab every 6 hrs. ...Read more
I have Gastritis, no cancer, negative for H poly, Autoimmune. Slow bleed 9 months. I'm at a loss. Dr's do not do anything. If left can it be seriou?
Look for other cause: Are you seeing blood in your stool? I assume you have iron deficiency anemia. Have you had a colonoscopy? If that didn't show anything and you continue to have anemia, a pillcam will help to look at your small bowel for other potential causes of slow bleeding. I hope this helps! ...Read more
Lexapro (escitalopram) for 8 days 10mg. Waking up shaking. Dr. said this is a side effect that will wear off. How long should this last? Taking for H/A & anxiety.
Shaking side effect: Shaking is a possible side effect of Lexapro (escitalopram). It may go away in a few weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. If it doesn't go away or is too bothersome, you may consider changing medication, or you may find a little shaking is wrth the benefit to your mood. Just be sure you do not stop Lexapro (escitalopram) suddenly, it can cause a serious complication called serotonin syndrome. Best of luck! ...Read more
Is there something a dr can get me that's better than OTC preparation h for hemorrhoids? Mine are internal and keep coming back
Things like preparation H will not address internal hemorrhoids. A doctor could inject the lesions so that those will shrink. If that does not help, it may be necessary to surgically remove the hemorrhoids.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

Dr chui sorry you are very incorrect I used the symbicory and swam wit)h noproblems or wheezing. Had more energy seretide is hopeless. I swam good?
Everyone different: The drug seretide is called advair in the us. Some people responds better to one drug than the other -my personal experience favors the aerosol form over the powder. The major difference between symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) and seretide is in the bronchodilator which starts working in 15 mins on symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) and 45 mins in seretide. If symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) works well for you, that's your drug. ...Read more

Antibiotic therapy: Helicobacter pylori bacteria likes our stomach acid environment. It is the leading cause of ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. Foods have no effect. Piles/ hemorrhoids also unrelated. You need to take a combination of 3 or 4 antibiotics for 2 wks to kill these bacteria. Failure to do so can cause ulcers or even cancer. More reading: http://www. My knees were hurting, dr. Advised blood test, results: my uric acid level is 7.4 h, what does that mean? What should I do?
Not much: A normal uric acid level pretty much rules out gout, but that's it. It's unlikely that gout will announce itself as pain in both knees that isn't really severe. Many healthy people have higher uric acid levels than you do. Your physician knows what the next steps are. Good luck. ...Read more

I had a leep one month ago for CIN 3. I went to a new dr 15 days after leep and she took a pap-it was asc-h. Can inflammation from leep be the cause?
Possible: You are very likely correct, 15 days after a leep is far too early for a follow-up pap smear. There would be extensive inflammation that would compromise interpreting the pap and the result would be uninformative. 3 to 6 months after a leep is the recommended interval to re-screen with a pap. ...Read more
H/Tap Dr says that "the benefit of omega fish oil supplements is marginal at best". So can we conclude that the jury is still out on it, & eat fish?
My dr diagnosed idiopathic angioedema of my lips (had hives 8 months ago)It's been 30hrs, swelling slightly less. How long to go down? Compress? H or C
Depends on cause: Most angioedema should subside by 30 hrs. If you have had recurrent bouts of angiioedema lasting for more than 2-3 days, then you need to get evaluated for hereditary angioedema. Do note that the cause may not be established despite extensive studies. If this was the fist episode, then it may or may not recur. See an allergist if the problem persists or worsens. ...Read more
