Copies of Lab reports in Health Files. ALT 65, ALP215. AST38, Bilirubin .5, Hep B & C negative. Doc says u r alright.I m not satisfied with him.
Repeat it: Alk phos fluctuates and some young men run high especially if it's non-fasting. Your transaminases ALT/AST are a tiny bit high and usually the first step is to repeat the labs off alcohol. Silymarin / milk thistle is worthless in this situation and you should get a screen for Wilson's (urine copper), autoimmunity (ANA etc) and hemochromatosis. Consider getting into physical fitness seriously again ...Read more

For hepatitis B, about 10-15% of patients with acute hepatitis will develop chronic HBV. In contrast, for hepatitis C, 75-80% of patients with acute hepatitis will develop chronic HCV. Yes, need follow up: You have a combination of primary biliary cirrhosis (pbc) and autoimmune hepatitis (aih). The treatments are different, ursodeoxycholic acid is used to treat pbc, but may not bring down the ast/alt elevation associated with aih. If the urso does not bring down the ast/alt, you may need additional medications, such as steroids or azathioprine, to control the aih. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Only 70% cured: The problem relying on gallbladder contraction (ejection fraction) as an indication for gallbladder removal is that there is no consensus or correlation between the ef% and response to cholecystectomy. Cholecystectomy is associated with cure in about 70%, but there is a similar rate of improvement is also seen in patients that are treated medically. 30% have persistent symptoms after surgery. ...Read more
During c section, my uterus tore as dr was getting my son out. Had to get a blood transfusion. I am terrified to repeat c section. Dr said i'd be ok?
That can happen: You have to trust your doctor, or see a diff doc for a second opinion as the 2nd doc can read the op note from the csection, your doc can do a repeat csection early anytime after 37 weeks after an amniocentesis has been done to check for fetal lung maturity , so the repeat csection is done before you go into labor, sometimes I do this with my patients for a variety of reasons. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
