Doxycycline Hyclate Prostatitis
Male, 23. All of symptoms of acute prostatitis, no diagnosis. Taking doxycycline hyclate. Should this help clear it?
Maybe, maybe not: True prostatitis is rare at your age (23), and when it occurs, it's usually non-bacterial (often not due to any infection at all), and doxycycline and other antibiotics don't help. It may be worth a try, but don't get your hopes up too high. Typical symptoms (testiular or low abdominal pain, urinary discomfort, etc) often are the chronic pelvic pain syndrome. Google it for for more information. ...Read more
Male, 23. All of symptoms of acute prostatitis, no diagnosis. Taking doxycycline hyclate. Should this help clear it? Tips/What could have caused it?
Complicated answer:: Bacteria can enter the prostate from the urethra or the bladder and cause an isolated infection of the prostate. BUT in younger men prostatitis is often secondary to an STD urethritis. Your Dr likely felt that your "prostatitis" was more likely due to Chlamydia STD. Doxicycline is effective for this. Prostatitis is very common. Aside from STD related, often time the cause is unknown. ...Read more
Will my prostatitis get used to doxycycline? As cleared it within a month first time, took 3 months second time, only 1 that helps, flare up now
See answer: Prostatitis can mean many things, and I suspect in your case there may be reason to consider an alternative explanation for your symptoms. Many men have symptoms of the lower urinary tract labeled as "prostatitis" yet bacterial infection is undetectable. The emergence of resistant bacteria is a major public health problem due to widespread unwarranted antibiotic use. Google the term "cpps". ...Read more
I've been on doxycycline for prostatis for 11 weeks. This helped. As soon as I came off them my prostatitis got worse. On dc again, symptoms improve.
Natural additions: You may know that prostatitis often is the result of an infection. There is also enlarged prostate. Your doc can tell you if you have both. Ask him/her about addiing natural prostate supplements to your meds. One product is prostathera but there are many that include such things as saw palmetto, etc. Peace and good health. ...Read more

Prostatis: This is a difficult condition to treat effectively, and in fact may or may not be due to infection, or there may be infective agents not sensitive to the medication you are receiving. In addition, frequent ejaculation, warm Sitz baths and other adjunctive therapies may be beneficial. Hopefully your doctor is on the right track and you will recover soon. Best wishes. ...Read more

I am suffering from prostatitis. My doctor prescribed me vibramycin (doxycycline) 100mg will it be helpful?

I would like to know what alternative there is to bactrim. I have prostatitis Bactria helped the best but made me to sick tryed cipro and doxycycline?
Maybe no antibiotic: First have a frank conversation with your doctor about whether you need antibiotic treatment of any kind. Most prostatitis is non-infectious and antibiotics don't help. They're usually worth a try, but it's often best to stop after a couple of tries don't work and limit treatment to urine flow drugs, NSAIDs, etc. If documented bacterial infection, maybe consult with infectious disease specialist. ...Read more

Was given vibramycin (doxycycline) for trouble urinating and right flank pain. Doc says prostatitis, are these symptoms and is this right med for my problem?
Poss no: Prostatitis can cause fever, irritative voiding symptoms, perineal or suprapubic pain and prostatic tenderness on rectal exam. Flank pain makes me think more of kidney pain than prostate, especially when it is only on one side. Unprotected sex can make STDs a possible etiology. All these should be worked up b/c the indicated ab depends on an accurate diagnosis. ...Read more

Chronic Prostatitis: I wold advise a couple of things. I think the naturopaths may have some advice for you as well and you may want to google naturopathic treatment of chronic prostatitis.
