However, as much as possible , we try to avoid it...That is why we give chemo--like Doxil (liposomal doxorubicin) etc. There are some other chemo can be used if Doxil (liposomal doxorubicin) does not work- for example- paclitaxel, docetaxel, navelbine-- and off course, continue your HIV meds. Ask your oncologist: Your oncologist has the answer to it and he/she can help you to reduce the degree of the sores. Often it requires dose reduction and or lengthen the interval between your treatments(to 4 weeks instead of 3 weeks) which is Ok initially but later on, it takes longer for the mouth to fully heal before the next chemotherapy is administered. ...Read more
