Only one side of my nose gets stuffy when I lie down. Will lying down the other side help?

Normal nasal cycle: Your nose is meant to filter the air you breathe. The normal nasal cycle describes an alternating congestion of each side of the nose every 90 minutes. The congestion comes from the dilation of blood vessels in the turbinates and septum. If you feel stuffy, there may be an additional blockage like a deviated septum, allergies, enlarged turbinates. Find a local ENT to evaluate your nose and airway. ...Read more

Excessive sweating of a toddler while at sleep. and cold to touch, starting from his head down to back. what's the real problem?

Sweating at night: Children's heads have a large surface area and they sweat to dissipate heat. If he is an active sleeper and wears a one-piece sleeper, is covered with a blanket, he may be sweating from the heat generated by his moving around. His head would have the most sweat then. If he is completely normal otherwise, it is not a problem. Double check that with your pediatrician next time you see him/her. ...Read more

What should I do? Associated mostly with sitting down. Extreme nervous feeling with the feeling of blood pressure spiking. When standing, feelings are slightly relieved.

What should I do? Associated mostly with sitting down. Extreme nervous feeling with the feeling of blood pressure spiking. When standing, feelings are slightly relieved.

Typically : Typically blood pressure (BP) that is associated with positional changes (orthostatic or postural) occurs when a person sits or lays down for a while then stands up, and usually a drop is noted not an increase. Since your symptoms are atypical i wonder if you are suffering from something else like anxiety or even a panic attack. This could cause you to feel your blood pressure rise, and maybe sitting down calms you, thus provokinga feeling of your BP lowering. Regardless this is something that must be evaluated by your primary care provider. A complete history of your present problem, exam, and likely testing will be done to help detemine the diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more

My 6 month is super gassy, always farting and burping. She wakes up crying and screaming sometimes and squirms while nursing. What could be the cause?

Change moms diet: If she is being exclusively breastfed, look at your diet. The mothers diet can cause the baby to sometimes be gassy. Avoid starches, beans and other gassy veggies. If you are supplementing with formula she may be having some intolerance to the formula. She may need to be changed to a different formula. Diagnosed with viral syndrome sat. Laying down i feel fine. Standing up my heartrate jumps up to 130-140, dry mouth, extremely weak, headaches. Pots?

Orthostatic dizzy: When heart rate goes up and blood pressure drops upon standing this is called orthostatic hypotension. In severe cases it can cause fainting. A heart rate of 130 is concerning and should be evaluated for pots but also other potential causes. In the interim always ensure that you are well hydrated, increase your salt intake and wait a few seconds after standing to take your first step. ...Read more
