I opened my eyes wide and I had double Vision for a minute or two and went away is it normal to happen?

Muscle imbalance: When you strain your eyes to open widely, you are changing the neural input to the muscles that align your eyes. For some people that have a delicate balance in their alignment this can temporarily upset fusion and create double vision.

Seek evaluations by: An ophthalmologist, not an optometrist, by your primary physician &, possibly, by a neurologist. Adult-onset binocular diplopia can be from systemic or neurological disorders. Diplopia, or double vision, is the simultaneous perception of two images of a single object, displaced vertically in your case. Am I seeing double because of tired eyes? How to tell if it's actually double vision?

Am I seeing double because of tired eyes? How to tell if it's actually double vision?

Confirm yourself: Test for doubling by covering one or the other eye and seeing if the doubling disappears. There are a few conditions that can double one eye alone, but these are uncommon. If you are tired and the eye (s) have a tendency to drift, then doubling might occur due to the drift. If this is troubling or persistent, have your ophthalmologist check it out.

What to do if I have a double vision in both the eyes, and it is not going evenafter putting glasses please help?

What to do if I have a double vision in both the eyes, and it is not going evenafter putting glasses please help?

Consult a eye doctor: You may have a palsy of one of the cranial nerves causing dysconjugation of gaze. A formal eye exam will be able to rule out a nerve injury as a cause of the symptom. If it is a nerve injury, it may be temporary & treatable with an eye patch over the affected eye for a period of a few weeks. Ultimately, you need to consult a specialist for a full eval to determine the cause & the right treatment.

Diplopia: Double vision, or diplopia, can be a sign of a serious underlying neurological problem. It also can happen under conditions of extreme fatigue, or alcohol or drug use If you see double when one eye is closed, then it is usually an optical problem inside the eye not a neurological problem. If you have double vision that persists, see a neurologist for evaluation.

Pressure on eyes and when I close my eyes, look down and open eyes I get bad double vision. Is this concerning or just something small?

See ophthalmologist: Closing your eyes breaks up the binocular vision and and may bring out a drifting of the eyes called a phoria. This would give you momentary double vision. See an ophthalmologist. Glasses or eye exercises may be needed.

Had brief episode of sudden, severe double vision. I blinked my eyes & It persisted. Went away after a few minutes. Did not close one eye then other.

Exam: You should see your ophthalmologist and probably an internis or neurologist to evaluate your symptoms. I would worry about hypertension, diabetes as possible but would want to rule out any ocular muscle imbalances too. More serious condition considerations would require more elucidation of your symptoms. An exam is essential.

I am experiencing double vision (quality: with both eyes open) and dry eyes.

See Eyedoc: Hi JennieR. The new onset of double vision in a 22 year old woman needs to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist. High on the list of possible causes are alcohol and drug side effects, thyroid eye disease, diabetic 3rd nerve palsy, myasthenia gravis, atherogenic and neurogenic 6th nerve palsy, MS. Dry eyes can be seen in all of these conditions. Best wishes to you.

One of my eyes sometimes involuntarily turn inwards, causing double vision. Should I go to the doctor?

Yes: Double vision should be evaluated to check for the cause. Intermittent esotropia may not be a problem, but best to determine that with an eye care provider first -- may be a peds or neuro-ophthalmologist.
