I have been bleeding in Cerazette after 5months no bleeding, what to do?

Desogestrel only: Cerazette is a pill that only administers a small amount of desogestrel only, no estrogen. Your own estrogens may have stimulated the inner lining of your uterus to a point, where the desogestrel is not strong enough to keep it from being shed, which is the breakthrough bleeding. A pelvic ultrasound to determine the endometrial thickness may be useful before trying other hormonal therapy attempts. ...Read more

I am taking Cerazette for 2 months and I am bleeding almost all the time since then. How long does it take normally to not have periods anymore? Thank

Breakthrough bleed: Sounds like breakthrough bleeding which occurs when you have bleeding at unscheduled times while on the pill. Brown is simply old blood that has been sitting at the back of the vagina. Often things get back to normal the next cycle. If not then schedule a visit to discuss changing brands or changing birth control methods. This is very common. Other than being annoying it is not dangerous. ...Read more

Having breakthru bleeding for 14 days, been on quartette 3 years. Can I double bc pill dose to stop bleeding?

Not unusual: Break thru bleeding is very common on oral contraceptives but it does tend to diminish with time. Taking a double dose of your BCP is often suggested but it hasn't been clinically studied and may expose you to increased risk of the side effects of BCP's. A safer alternative would be to take an estrogen supplement for 7 days to reduce the bleeding. Discuss this with your physician. ...Read more

On bc for a year, missed a dose and doubled up the next day. Then break through bleeding 2 days later & had sex. What's the chance I could be pregnant?

Bleeding on OCP: If you missed a day or two of the birth control pills, especially with the lower dose pills, it will cause the irregular bleeding. The bleeding is due to the changes in birth control pills and the changes your body undergoes with the shifts in hormone levels. If you didn't miss more than one pill, the risk of getting pregnant is lower. ...Read more

Would a dose of white willow 6 days before a vasectomy be enough to cause bleeding risks?

Unlikely: The bark of white willow contains salicin, a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) thought to be responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb. Because of its similarity to aspirin and its blood thinning/anticoagulant properties, generally recommended to stop taking 10-14 days before major surgery. For a minor procedure such as vasectomy, 6 days adequate ...Read more
