Yes: Dostinex (cabergoline) lowers prolactin levels. High prolactin levels can inhibit orgasms. Therefore, Dostinex (cabergoline) can be used to make it easier (or possible) to have an orgasm. Prolactin levels increase each time you have an orgasm. That is why it is hard for men to have orgasms if they have a lot of orgasms. ...Read more
Trick question?: Hi. Let's assume you had galactorrhea & amenorrhea (hyperprolactinemia syndrome). You go on cabergoline. The breast milk stops and periods start back up. Are the periods coming once a month with normal flow? You know the answer to that, not us docs out here in internet-land. Good luck! ...Read more
My obgyn prescribe me dostinex (cabergoline). 25mg twice a week. I would like to know, why I can't take it daily or maybe more times a week?
Very unlikely: Hi. Your gender is not stated. I've been prescribing cabergoline (Dostinex) for a long time for hyperprolactinemia, and acne's not one of the side effects I see. If you're a man, you might also be being treated with testosterone for the hypogonadism caused by high prolactin, in which case it would be the testosterone causing the acne, not the Dostinex (if you're a woman, disregard that statement). ...Read more

I am on dostinex, 0.25mg for 2 weeks then 0.5mg for 4 weeks for raised prolactin, is this long enough?
Unclear question: Not sure what you mean by long enough. It certainly is long enough to recheck your prolactin level and see if it has normalized. However, the duration of treatment is usually longer than several weeks, if this is what your question was. Again, there are variables in the treatment such as your symptoms, the initial prolactin level, CT or MRI findings of the brain, goals of treatment, etc. ...Read more

Taking dostinex and experiencing headaches. Does the body ever get used to side effects of dostinex (cabergoline) and stop having headaches?
Is orlistat safe for 3 month use? Does it interact with dostinex (cabergoline) 0.5 per week? Have lost 35kgs, put back in 25 and cannot loose them
Orlistat: Orlistat causes you to not absorb fat, which then comes out in the stool. There could theoretically be vitamin malabsorption, but probably not an issue over 3 months. Side effects are not very pleasant. Oily anal leakage. There should not be an interaction with cabergoline. Good luck. ...Read more
I have a microadenome in the hypophyse gland. I have 4 childs. I stopped the medication (dostinex) 3 years and until now. What a risk of this attitude.
Adenoma can enlarge: If you do not take the dostinex, (cabergoline) your tumor can (and will) enlarge and cause a variety of problems. It may enlarge very slowly, but can also enlarge faster as it gets larger. Please discuss reinstitution of Dostinex (cabergoline) with your physician. It is an easy way to prevent future problems. ...Read more
I bought dostinex (cabergoline) to stop lactation after 6 months. It's written to take half a pill twice but the pharmacist told me to take two pills wht to do?
Dostinex (cabergoline) dose: The usual dose is 0.25mg twice a week. Since the pills come as 0.5mg, I would agree with the dose of 1/2 pill twice a week. Check and see that the pills are indeed 0.5mg size, but I think that is the only tablet size Dostinex (cabergoline) comes in. Usually to stop lactation you only need to do a week of dosing, but if lactation persists, then can increase to as much as two pills twice a week. ...Read more
Macroprolactinoma has shrunk 35mm - 11mm, prolatin count 2000 to 130 after 10 months using dostinex (cabergoline) 8mg/w.Count does not lower, what should I do?
No need to change: It looks like there has been a very good response to Dostinex (cabergoline) in terms of tumor shrinkage and lower prolactin. Many times, one cannot get the prolactin normal despite high doses of medication, however, it is not necessary to do so. Nothng to do if are feeling well, and have no problems related to the size of the tumor (visual problems, headaches) or related to the high prolactin (low testosterone). ...Read more
