Is there a stronger combination of medicines than lyrica (pregabalin) and naproxen for treating nerve pain in the feet?
Can the pain reducing effects of tramadol lessen over time? What other medication could help control cervical spondylosis pain? Tried neurontin (gabapentin)...
Tramadol is a good: Drug because it works through many mechanisms. The next step up from that is Nucynta (tapentadol) which is available when tramadol no longer helps. You can ask your doctor about other non-opiod medications to be used in conjunction with the opiods for optimal pain relief. ...Read more
I have MS and trigem neuralgia and have terrible pain. Tried gaba, baclofen, norco, (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) elavil, tegretol, otc, etc...What is the best pain med for this?
Trigeminal neuralgia: Sadly trigeminal neuralgia is a poorly understood disease that has an even worse track record for treatment. Most patients suffer from this disease without much relief. There is a growing body of evidence looking into Lamotrigine as a treatment. Ask your prescribing doctor if this is an alternative. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Been taking Tramadol for almost a year for idiopathic nerve pain in legs. Dr has prescribed Lyrica (pregabalin). Would Tapentadol be better for pain relief ?
It depends: On the cause. Most joint pain can be helped with gentle manual therapies to improve alignment (osteopathy, feldenkrais, cranial), physical therapy, home exercise to strengthen muscles & support joints. Add an anti-inflammatory diet (find online), same (400-1600 mg/day) (not if bipolar or prostate cancer), take with b-complex, and glucosamine-15oo mg/d. All nutritional changes take time to work. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
They are: Not the same but in the same category as SNRI'S (Seratonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors). So bottom line, since everyone is different, you would have to just try one. I will say this: watch out for withdrawal symptoms or side effects such as headaches, sweats, shakes, and irritability. If that happens you have to wean off extremeve slowly always under psychiatric supervision. ...Read more

I'm taking Amitryptyline, Neurontin (gabapentin) and Naproxen for severe back pain and spasms. Is it safe to take methocarbamol as well?
Not effective: In a recent study, pregabalin was shown to be no more effective than placebo for reducing sciatic leg pain. Rather, pregabalin was associated with my higher rate of side effects. A handful of studies have evaluated its use in back sciatica, and all conclude that it has minimal, if any, effects. It appears at least slightly less effective than amitriptyline, celecoxib, and tramadol/acetaminophen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can taking 1/2 norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 10-325 cause dependence? Need for lower back pain.
Maximum Dose: By "hydromorphone contin" i asume you mean long acting hydromorphone or exalgo. There is no maximum dose of any pure mu opioid medication. That said going up and up and up on a drug with no meaningful improvement in pain or level of function makes no sense. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
