Dosage For Childrens Tylenol For A 9 Year Old
My 9 year old grandson ran a high fever for a few days last week with no other symptoms other than no appetite. Tylenol reduces the fever and it went away after a couple of days. He came home from school yesterday with 101 fever that quickly went away.
Time to see doc: For fevers over 100-101 that last more than 4 or 5 days, I strongly recommend seeing his doc. Usually, the fevers with uncomplicated viral illnesses like colds go away within 3-4 days, so the fact that he had high fevers last week and now this week is more concerning. ...Read more
My 9 year old daughter is having an extremely bad headache. She is crying but not having any other symptons. What should we do? She took some jr. Strength tylenol (acetaminophen) about 45 min. Ago. But no relief.
You did the right thing by giving her a pain reliever. Consider trying children's advil (ibuprofen) in the future. I have found it to be much more effective for pain relief. Hopefully your daughter is better by now. However, if this is a recurring issue she should definitely see the pediatrician. Also, make sure she has her vision checked. One of the most common causes of headache in kids is vision problems, allergies/sinus issues are also high on the list.
All the best. ...Read more

My 9yr old is running a fever of 104.3 and is complaining of neck pain, can I give her ibeprophen or tylenol (acetaminophen)? Or would it be er
Yes, go to ER: You can give either tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen to get the fever down and head on to the emergency room. Meningitis is going around right now. She may just have a strep throat, sinus infection etc but the high fever and neck pain alone is worrisome even though you did not give other signs & symptoms. Err on the safe side. ...Read more
My 6 year old sons has a fever of 101.7 and complains of chills and an awful headache. I've given him the proper dosage of children's Tylenol (acetaminophen) twice to?
Viral infection: A 6 year old boy with fever, chills, and headache sounds like a viral infection (common cold, flu, etc). Your question got cut off, but it sounds like you have given him Tylenol (acetaminophen) twice already. A fever of 101.7 is not itself worrisome, but if the headache and chills persist, he should be seen by his pediatrician. ...Read more

Can my 10 year old who weighs 155 pounds take an adult dose of tylenol (acetaminophen) if he has a fever?
Yes: In this case weight is more important than age in determining dose. But I advise against taking anything to lower fever unless he is miserable, as fever is a key aspect of how our bodies fight infections- our immune system works better and bacteria ; viruses have difficulty surviving high temps. Reducing fever sabotages your immune system and prolongs the infection! Treat discomfort, not fever. ...Read more
Is it okay to mix childrens allegra & childrens tylenol (acetaminophen) to treat cold/pains on a 2 year old?
Yes but.....: Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Allegra are ok together but Allegra is not useful for "colds" as it won't control the runny, stuffy nose unless due to an allergy to inhalants (e.g. Dust mite, pollen, pet dander). Current american academy of pediatrics recommendations are use tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever, aches but no antihistamines or decongestants for nasal symptoms as they are largely ineffective and can have side-effects. ...Read more
Is it okay to take childrens allegra & childrens tylenol (acetaminophen) so I don't have to go out at night with my 2 year old?
My 7 year old son just came out of no where and said that he is cold. His temperature is 103.2 under his arm. What to do? I gave him a dose of Tylenol (acetaminophen)
Watch: Him as the fever comes down! Kids feel "cold" when they have a fever. He should feel better when his temp comes down. Fever is a good thing as it is his immune system fighting an infection. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is good to make him feel better but does not help fight what is causing fever. This is why I say watch him carefully for any signs of breathing trouble, pain etc and see a provider if problems. ...Read more

What to do if my 2 year old daughter has 102.8 fever, what should I do if I've given childrens tylenol (acetaminophen)?
Fever: Fever is not always a bad thing. Most childhood illnesses are caused by viruses and they are killed by high temperatures so her body is doing the right thing. You do need to keep her hydrated. Push fluids and treat with fever reducer if needed. Sometimes a lukewarm bath helps. If she won't drink or if the fever persists call her doctor. ...Read more

5 year old grandson gets mild frontal headaches children's tylenol (acetaminophen) takes care of it his mom is a long time sufferer of migraines, your thoughts?
Child's headaches: I would not jump right to migraines in his age group. There are so may things that are ahead of that on the list of possible causes. First is a good eye exam from a pediatric eye doctor. Next is a general physical exam and history from his pediatrician. While you are waiting for all that to happen, keep a detailed diary of his headaches. Day, time of day, what he was doing, diet, what helped, etc. ...Read more

5-year old with a low grade fever between 101 and 102 for 2 days. Cough. Healthy appetite. No complaints in terms of throat, etc. Should we continue to treat with Children's Tylenol (acetaminophen) or see Doctor?
