To check blood flow: Doppler ultrasound gives information about blood flow, increased, decreased, velocity + direction or absence. Very useful in making or confirming many diagnoses and used to examine many organ systems including, but not limited to heart, blood vessels, liver. Kidney, ovary or testis to rule out torsion. ...Read more

Not necessary: A doppler ultrasound is a painless exam. There should be no need for an anxiolytic medication. If you have a condition that will cause you to have undue anxiety for an ultrasound exam, you should discuss it with your physician so that proper measures can be taken, and medication prescribed in the rare event that it is needed. ...Read more
I went for a Doppler
Ultrasound but the injection they gave me
Didn't cause me to have an erection is that a bad sign?
Carotid doppler ultrasound showed elevated psv in right ica but normal ica/cca. What's this mean?
See detailed answer:
Psv = peak systolic velocity (i.e. Speed of blood flow); elevated psv can indicate narrowing
ica/cca ratio is another way of assessing narrowing — would need to see actual numbers
My 2 cents... See a vascular surgeon. ...Read more
My GP ordered a doppler ultrasound to look at my 'porta hepatis' — what could he be checking for?
Liver: Porta hepatis is the region leading into the liver which contains the blood vessels feeding the liver (hepatic artery and portal vein) and the bile duct which carries bile from the liver and gallbladder to the bowel. It also contains some lymph nodes. Maybe your doctor wants to see how well blood is flowing in the hepatic artery and portal vein? ...Read more

Yes: Most of the lesions in the leg are primary sarcomas. There are very few metastatic lesions other than those spreading to groin nodes. Sarcomas grow as masses and can easily be palpated. If the lesion is deep to skin and begins growing, it spreads the overlying tissue over it so that the margins of the growing lesion may not be clear. Here a Doppler should easily identity its true margins. ...Read more
Mixed: A hernia can be detected relatively accurately with an ultrasound and even better yet with physical exam. Epididymitis is slightly more difficult. It can sometimes been seen on ultrasound, but it is more of a clinical diagnosis and is treated with NSAID (anti-inflammatories) and sometimes steroids and antibiotis ...Read more
What is a common differential diagnosis for a questionable small angiomyolipoma found on renal doppler ultrasound?
That may scare you: The common lesions in kidneys are cysts and kidney cancers all of which begin as small densities and then it is a matter of checking them for any changes or further growth. Stay calm and follow your doctor's instructions and get followup ultrasound in 6 months(if you a re very much worried) or in one year which I think is adequate. ...Read more
Leg ultrasound: Ultrasound is usually effective at detecting a blood clot in the leg vein, however there are times when a clot below the knee level may not be adequately detected. In that situation, a repeat ultrasound a few days later can be performed. Other factors may lower the sensitivity of the test, such as the experience of the ultrasound tech, the radiologist reading the images, and the size of the leg. ...Read more
Doppler Ultrasound: Ultrasound has proven to be cost-effective and quite accurate in determining the degree of narrowing in the carotid artery. Many vascular surgeons, including myself, solely rely on it to decide whether someone needs an operation. Mra is not so good and over-estimates the actual degree of narrowing. I would not rely on its findings to decide on operating. As mentioned a cta is much better. ...Read more
Would DVT pain come and go, or is it constant? Normal d dimer and doppler ultrasound in the past month. Pain still there, intermittent in calf + thigh
Making up Health: What? At 31? No. What would it tell you? What could you change? You are smoking. Stopping smoking would be a million times more effective than doing an ultrasound. What if the ultrasound does not show any disease? You are still a smoker with ed at an early age. ...Read more
Does a normal color doppler ultrasound completely rule out testicular ischemia and testicular abscess?
Would a tuberculosis epididymitis show on urinanalysis or color doppler ultrasound? If so, what would it present like?
I had a penile Doppler ultrasound done but the injection they gave me didn't cause an erection is that normal? But the test result say everything's ok
My test become hard after doppler ultrasound test found, epididymitis infection it having 8 month or more but hardness remains same. Give some suggest?
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more
