Yes.: Donnatal (phenobarbital atropine hyoscyamine and scopolamine) is usually prescribe for abdominal cramps, or irritable bowel syndrome. The Phenobarbital portion is a sedative. It may cause drowsiness especially in combo w/ other sedative meds. The atropine, scopolamine and Hyoscyamine drugs decrease muscle spasms in the gut. For IBS, how much/long should you take meds before going to ER? I have been alternating donnatal & Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) & Motrin & Percocet for abdominal pain.
If your pain is bad: enough to require percocet, I would see gastroenterologist ASAP. I don't believe percocet is a good drug for IBS, and as you know it is habit forming, and so is librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide). ...Read more
