Does taking zyrtec (cetirizine) with antihistamines run the blood pressure up?

Does taking zyrtec (cetirizine) with antihistamines run the blood pressure up?

No, But Don't Do It: Zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine- so you shouldn't be taking it with other antihistamines. However, antihistamines don't typically elevate the blood pressure. Decongestants (ie sudafed) can cause blood pressure elevation. Zyrtec (cetirizine) shouldn't be a problem. Read more

If cetirizine is: The problem then its mild-anticholinergic effect on the heart should subside in about 24 hrs even though its antihistaminic effect may linger for up to 72 hrs. However, it is unusual to see elevated BP from this drug and you may need to see your doctor about this issue. Read more

Long time raised blood pressure. Always stable till now. Did weight gain worsen it?

Yes it can: Weight gain can absolutely increaase your blood pressure. I recommend regular exercise (which can decrease your blood pressure even when you don't loose weight), and a healthy diet. Also sodium (salt) can increase your blood pressure, so I recommend taing in < 1500mg a day if you have high blood pressure. Read more

I have hi-blood pressure I was just diagnosed with gout. I take atenolol 50mg, enalapril 2.5 mg, and indapamide 50mg. Indapamide raised my uric.?

Possibly: However, hypertension and gout are often associated so it may not be the indapamide. High uric acid is the result of overproduction (genetic), under excretion by the kidney, or lifestyle (alcohol, red meat, shrimp, etc.). Read more

How high should your blood pressure raise after exercise-in terms of systolic and diastolic values? E.g is 127/74 before and 150/101 a normal increase after walking up and down a 16 inch step?

BP and excercise: It is normal for your blood pressure to increase during and right after exercising. If that is the reading about 20 minutes after resting, you should be concerned. Check with a local physician if that is the case. Otherwise, you should keep doing what you do. Exercise and eat healthy. Read more
