Can you have an anxiety attack again while on 150mg Zoloft (sertraline) for a year ?

Certainly: You can certainly have a breakthrough panic attack no matter how long you have been on zoloft. Panic attacks should be less frequent and less intense, however. I see that you're also on xanax, (alprazolam) and sometimes this can lead to breakthrough anxiety. Hoping you are in psychotherapy as well for your ocd. Your results will improve through combined approaches. ...Read more

I have been taking Zoloft (sertraline) for 3-4 months and is causing social anxiety for me all of a sudden. Why is this?

SAD not from Zoloft (sertraline): Zoloft (sertraline) does not cause social anxiety. It usually treats it. I don't believe this is from zoloft (sertraline). Are you still on risperdal? Are you still taking it.? What are your diagnoses? Do you use pot? Pot can cause it. It can arise at any time, even if you are treated with zoloft (sertraline). Also, has it been diagnosed by a qualified mental health professional? Please provide more history for a more complete answer. ...Read more

I take 200 mg of Zoloft (sertraline) daily for chronic anxiety. I believe I may have accidentally taken double that (400 mg) today. Dangers?

I take 200 mg of Zoloft (sertraline) daily for chronic anxiety. I believe I may have accidentally taken double that (400 mg) today. Dangers?

200 MG q.d. is a: high dose and twice that is higher than I've ever heard. I'd call poison control or 911 just to quickly check in with the experts. If you are near an ER, that would do, but I'd call someone STAT just to lower your anxiety even more. What are your symptoms after taking double the dose? How long ago did you take it? ...Read more

Taking Zoloft (sertraline) @ night for 11 days. Wake up very anxious. Okay to skip dose tonight? Have exam in morning & want to avoid anxiety. Will take later.

Half-life = 1 day: Especially if you think it will help, you should be okay. But don't make it a practice. Do discuss options w/ your Dr - that's a rough side effect! Please consider CBT as an addition or alternative - research is clear on this for optimal help. You'll still have half in you so don't take an extra dose, just wait till evening. Best! ...Read more

I have anxiety. My Zoloft (sertraline) dose was raised from 50(was fine for 2 years)to100(fine for 6mos and now 150 anxiety back.Have you seen this amount effective?

Yes: Doses of antidepressants like zoloft (sertraline) needed for symptom control can vary from person to person, and from time to time in their lives. If your prescribing doctor isn't a psychiatrist, it might be time to consult one. Also, working in psychotherapy can help you discover what drives your anxiety, and learn how to modulate it. The book "the mindful way through anxiety" can be very helpful too. ...Read more
