Does Yaz Clear Up Acne
I've been on Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) for 9 months ago to control my serious hormonal acne. It cleared up pretty well. Can I go off the pill w/out serious acne returning?
How long does it take Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) (birth control pill) to help clear acne?
Give it time: I usually advise patients to give "the pill" at least 3 cycles to determine if they will experience clearing of acne. Continue to use topical acne solutions AND take some before and after pictures of your skin to convince yourself that things are better or worse. If you do not experience at least some resolution of acne symptoms discuss with your doctor. ...Read more
Jolessa I just started jolessa, switched from yaz, and I am experiencing terrible acne. I know that it isn't the worst thing in the world, but I already went though it once. It is actually painful acne, reminds me of mini boils…anyways, I want to know if
Acne of the nature that you are describing can really be a serious issue. It can scar your face and effect your appearance in the future.
I recommend that you discuss your diet and skin care with your primary doctor and possibly with a dermatologist so that they can get to the cause of your particular acne problem and get control of it. ...Read more

If I am having mid cycle acne on yaz, only on right side of chin does that mean I'm ovulating and is there a chance the yaz can't stop all eruptions?
Not ovulating: If you are on Yaz birth control and taking it correctly then you are not ovulating. Yaz can offer some improvement in acne but it should not be considered a primary treatment for acne. If you main concern is acne improvement then consider seeing a dermatologist for acne medication. There are many effective options that can work with birth control pills to improve your complexion ...Read more
What are the possible side effects of switching from yaz to yasmin? Being it's. 02 to. 03 mg of estrogen? Will my cycles and acne be better or worse?
0.02 t0 0.03 mg Est: If anything is noticed, is should be that the higher estrogen level will allow for less facial acne. It may only improve the acne and not "cure it". Make certain to take the Yasmin the same time (within the hour of the day before) so that the level of estrogen in your system is constant. Taking the bcp at odd hours in low dose types like Yas or Yasmin is, can cause variations which cause acne. ...Read more

Can pill YAZ (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) actually make acne worse? Been taking for month and half. Have the worst cystic acne...
Should I take yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol)? I am afraid it will cause anxiety. I am considering Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) to treat my acne and hormonal problem. But do I have to be on it forever?
I am taking Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) for acne and have gained 6 lbs in 2 months. Are there bcps I can take that will help control the acne w/out weight gain?
All OCP's: Help acne. They do so becuase, when metoabolized they increase a protein that binds to testosterone. As well they decrease endogenous testosterone from the ovary itself. Drospirinone, the progesterone in Yaz, (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is hypothesized to do it better because of the type of Progesterone but that contribution is minimal. The weight gain, scientifically speaking, is not related to the weight gain. Good luc. ...Read more
I am an active, healthy 19 yr old. I am thinking about going on Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) because it would help with my hormonal acne. Would this be safe for me?

I've been on Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) for 3 months for acne but now am suffering from constipation. Does it get better over time? Is it safe to use laxatives every 2 days
Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is not Problem: Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is not the problem. The cause of constipation is usually the Standard American Diet (SAD)--which is notoriously devoid of fiber. We need adequate fiber and adequate fluids (i.e., water). Try 1-2 tablespoons of psyllium husks every day--with 2 glasses of water per tablespoon. If that doesn't get you going, add 500-1500 mg of magnesium. You can't OD on magnesium, it will give you diarrhea. ...Read more

50 mg spironolactone (for hormonal acne) caused hair loss for me for last 5 months. Was on Yaz last year but also lost a lot of hair with and stopped it. Could hair loss stop on it's own or with a change in dosage? Really don't want acne to come back
Spironolactone is a treatment for androgen related hair loss in women. Therefore would check your thyroid hormone, check iron levels, check for autoimmune issues-alopecoa aretas/lupus- and be evaluated for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) which can cause hair loss I as can male pattern baldness in women.

What are the side effects of Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) birth control pill in treating pcos and acne? In dilemma as to whether I should start or not.
Clotting and emboli: Acne develops after one has periods because of hormonally induced changes to the skin with more oils. Taking birth control pills helps to regulate this and can decrease acne. But even low dose estrogen birth control pills increases the risk of deep venous clots (DVT) and can risk the emboli to the lungs. A family history of clots is a contraindication. Hydration decreases risks of forming clots. ...Read more
