Does Weed Show Up In A Hemoglobin Test
No: A hemoglobin test is just that; it tests the level of hemoglobin in your blood. It is a simple test usually requiring only a few drops of blood, which is used to screen for anemia. Testing for drug use is most commonly done with urine. Testing for drugs or anything else should not been done without your knowledge and consent. ...Read more
A hemoglobin test measures if you are anemic or not, i.e. If you have enough red blood cells in your circulatory system.
Anemic people have low hemoglobin levels. ...Read more
Varies: There are in excess of several hundred recorded mutations in the hemoglobin molecules & some are little more than a curiosity and some (sickle cell) could have significant implications. The screening process just selects those who need to be looked at more closely. I would not spend a lot of emotional energy at this point. Get more facts first. ...Read more
D/w MD: I don't know what it means. You should ask your doctor or go to the lab where you had the blood work and ask for a copy of the result. Once you gets the copy, you should discuss the result with your doctor. It is not enough to say that it is abnormal. ...Read more
My granddaughter had an abnormal hemoglobin test result, has to be retested right away, how serious could this be?
Depends: Is it a low hemoglobin level or an abnormal form of hemoglobin? A low hemoglobin level is generally associated with anemia, and can usually be treated (for example with iron supplements if it's due to iron deficiency.) an abnormal form of hemoglobin is different. It can be detected on the newborn screen or other specialized tests, and can be associated with sickle cell anemia or thalassemia. ...Read more
I am 6 months pregnant. My hemoglobin test says "an abnormal result" and value is 10.5. What do you mean by "abnormal result".?
Computer is dumb: Thing is, if you weren't pregnant, that would be low. However, since your body beefs up the amount of water it's carrying, the relative amount of red cells to overall plasma changes, making the computer think you're anemic, which is abnormal. However, it's a common finding in pregnancy. ...Read more
Sweetness: Aka hemoglobin a1c, is the most specific and sensitive test widely available to detect not only diabetes, but also how well or not controlled it is. There are other research level labs being looked at, a we are trying to figure out as early as possible who is pre diabetic, so we can aggressively go after your risks. Diet, exercise, are still the mainstay of treatment. Fda has not approved meds. ...Read more

I took an hemoglobin test and the result is at 8.2 is this a serious case. I have regular bleeding during periods and I don't have any symptoms as an ?
Anemia: That's a low hemoglobin and although you are young and likely will continue to make hemoglobin/red blood cells, you should consider (1) getting tested for any other causes of anemia (2) start taking iron (3) consider birth control pills to decrease the amount of bleeding you have with each period. Hope that helps. Good luck. ...Read more

If a finger stick hemoglobin test comes back normal is it possible the test could be wrong and my child is actually low/anemic?
Possible: Any test has a margin of error, ant the margin of error is a little higher for a finger stick test. If you have reason to doubt the results, ask for a repeat with a blood draw. ...Read more
No: Hemoglobin level determines if u r anemic. However, simplified, the size of red blood cells (rbc) can be small and mean iron deficiency, or large and mean Folic Acid or B12 deficiency. Causes of iron deficiency is loss of blood (iron molecule is in the rbc), without there being a store of iron in the body for the bone marrow to make more of them. Must be treated. Call doc. ...Read more
Doctor said that my hemoglobin test came back abnormal. What does mean if you have hemoglobin in urine test?
Hemoglobin test in urine came out positive. Should I be concerned? I do have Crohn's Disease that causes vaginal fistulas, but it is not active.
Yes: Assuming you have true hemoglobinuria. You should see a doctor to determine the true cause of hemoglobin in urine. Blood transfusion and stenous excercise can cause transient hemoglobin in urine. Hemolysis, PNH, or infection (malaria), or kidney disease, or tumor can also cause hemoglobin in urine. In addition, high level hemoglobin in kidney itself can also damage kidney. ...Read more
Why is GTT used to determine sugar issues rather than glycosylated hemoglobin test? Seems the latter would be better at predicting diabetes/low sugar.
Extremely anemic (transfusion jan 27) hematocrit tested today was at 30%. Hemoglobin test not available. Will I need another transfusion?
Transfusion?: Anemia can be due to blood loss usually via the GI tract, an impaired bone marrow that cannot make red blood cells (rbc) or due to destruction of rbc's in the vessels. What did the doctors tell you your anemia was due to? At a hematocrit of 30%, you will not need a transfusion now. Speak to the doctors who transfused you for more information as they know your case best of all. Good luck. ...Read more
I recently did the hemoglobin test and I got a 5.4% and I still got dizziness, dry mouth, frequent urination. Also I was diagnosed with anxiety and I'm taking meds. Should I be worried and do the test again??
Very: Anemia is always a cause for concern. This is a severe anemia if I've understood your correctly. Further, a 24 year old man with anemia has a bleeding ulcer or cancer until proved otherwise. And I'm concerned that you've left your physician's office with so little understanding of your situation. This is more than 'anxiety'. I think your life's in danger. Get with a specialist NOW. ...Read more
I did a hemoglobin electrophoresis test. The result negative and hemoglobin pattern are normal. What does this mean? I am not thalassemia carrirer?
Need more info:
All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to have the actual results, especially concentration of Hb A2. It would be prudent to discuss it with the doctor who ordered the tests.

Blood test: Hemoglobin is the substance in red blood cells which carries oxygen. Hemoglobin electrophoresis, a blood test, can determine if a person has an abnormal hemoglobin type or amount. Abnormalities in hemoglobin, more common in certain ethnic groups, can be associated with certain inherited types of anemia. ...Read more

Send us the test res: If you can send us the results of your tests (like your blood counts counts/ CBC) and tell us why they suspected Thalassemia, we can help you further. I know that the typical test for sickle-cell anemia is a hemoglobin electrophoresis, but will you be able to see the sickle shape of the blood cells?
Yes: Sick led cells are readily seen on a peripheral blood smear. It's worth knowing that the irreversibly sick led cells that you see on a smear are not necessarily the ones that cause the problem. In order for a cell at risk for sickling to occlude the small blood vessels (capillaries), they first must be able to enter them. In other words they must be deformable. They become occlusive in the vessel. ...Read more
