Weight loss: Weight loss can be a worrying sign of active Crohn's disease, regardless of your ability to eat. Active Crohn's disease burns calories, and you can lose calories in your stools. Haven't been able to put on weight for 4+ years. Eat quite a bit, & if I don't eat a lot I start rapidly losing weight. What could be causing this?

The first thing: someone would want to check is your thyroid...an overactive thyroid could cause this (though you would probably have other symptoms, too, like palpitations, tremors, etc). Beyond this, make sure you are getting enough calories (every day) and they are the "right" kind..including healthy fats and carbs. Also exclude diabetes, gastrointestinal malabsorption, even cancer. Good wishes:) ...Read more

2 weeks ago, I weighed 115-116 pounds which is normal for me. Now I weigh 110 but I haven't dieted or exercised. I'm glad I'm losing weight but why?

Loss of Weight: I understand your concern to lose 5-6pounds in 2 weeks At age 17, stressors of relationships, separation, breaking of relationships can cause anxiety and depression which can cause loss of weight. It is not WHAT you eat, IT IS WHAT is eating you! Amphetamines and cocaine abuse , Overactive thyroid gland and overuse of laxatives can also cause loss of weight. I am working out and really watching what i eat, why am i not losing weight i just started 3 weeks ago and i been really busting my but why can't i drop weight, i been big all my life and i hate it, what am i doing wrong?

Patience: It can take time but would still look really closely at your eating habits. When you work out a lot, you will likely feel hungry as your body is burning more calories. The increase in appetite can lead to consuming more calories. Really need to ensure that you are burning more calories than you are taking in and you will lose weight: cut back on carbohydrates..Focus lean protein, fresh veggies. ...Read more

I have been losing a lot of weight recently and it seems like I lose most of my weight in the middle of the night. I have been losing weight since I think Tuesday. I took a lexapro for the first time about 3and a half weeks ago and I can't figure out why

Weight loss at night: "Weight" loss happens to everyone at night. It's why people weigh in the morning after urinating. If this is only been recent it might be due to Lexapro (escitalopram), (escitalopram) but it's not it's the first time I've heard of this. Another possibility, whatever is causing rapid weight loss may also have caused anxiety or depression being treated with Lexapro (escitalopram). Get a 2nd opinion. Make sure nothing else is there. ...Read more

You don't need a drastic diet. Make small changes. Eat the right portions, eat 3-5 small meals a day, cut back on carbs and sugars, increase lean protein/veggie/fruit/water intake, and start doing some cardiovascular exercise. ...Read more
