Yeah man..it DOES: It can make people appear to be depressed, demented, lethargic, apathetic, lackadaisical- sounds like we're just throwing out insult after insult but hey, that's HYPOTHYROIDISM. It's also capable of doing something to CSF fluid that no other endocrinopathy does- causes a WBC shift UP. So, just remember residents...high WBC in CSF...what's the diff? Meningitis/Infection, GBS, Hypothyroidism. Fix! ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Really challenging: This is far too complex to even scratch the surface, as not too much is known regarding the full effects of marijuana. But, there is some evidence of benefits on spasticity in ms, but also, theoretical issues with interaction with ms drugs, such as gilenya (fingolimod). Hits white bld cells: The HIV virus (leading to aids) attacks and destroys a critical white blood cell of the immune system: the "cd4+ t-helper" cell. Two stages: Natural Killer cells are the first immune step that seeks out the malaria to mark it for the body to "kill" it. A second step is the T cell that also seeks the genetic marker of the malaria to flag it for a "kill". Since malaria invades natural cells of the body it can begin to hide from the immune system and replicate. Consider vaccination if traveling in high risk areas with malaria. ...Read more
