I've read that each cigarette depletes our bodies of 25 mg of vit c but am not sure where that number comes from. Many experts advise smokers consume at least 2000 mg of c/day, which is 100 mg per cig if you smoke a pack a day. This won't totally protect you from the immense damage caused by smoking but will reduce that damage somewhat. See

Same chemical but...: Both natural & synthetic vit. C are the same chemical, ascorbic acid, so most feel there's no difference but most synthetic is from gmo corn, which I feel is wise to avoid.
