Does Vitamin B Complex Increased Appetite
Metabolism: B vitamins are critical components of cellular metabolism. They are catalysts, or assistants, for most of the reactions that turn food into energy in the body. If you do not have enough b vitamins, you do not turn food into energy in an efficient manner. This leads to low energy levels, low blood counts, etc. ...Read more

Low B12: If you have low levels of b12- that needs to be investigated and treated. There is a cause for a low B12 level. Untreated it can lead to irreversible neurologic damage. While the cause can be dietary, there are more serious causes such as pernicious anemia- an autoimmune disease. So i suggest an investigation into why low b12. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Vitamin B12 : It may help with low energy levels depending on the cause. It is always best to consult a physician to determine the cause of fatigue, low energy, weakness, asthenia, etc. Before self-medicating with vitamin supplements. While vitamin B12 is safe, the cause for feeling tired may have to do with something unrelated to it. ...Read more
Yes; having all : By definition, b complex contains all of the b vitamins. In this case "complex" means "made up of inter-related parts" like the military-industrial complex. Out bodies need to convert some b's to the active form, like b6 to pyridoxal-5-phosphate and Folic Acid to 5-mthf. The best quality b complexes contain some of the "activated" forms as some people don't readily make the conversions! ...Read more
Have anemia, v low iron levels & no appetite especially 4 meats. Taking ferrous gluconate w/vit C - not working. Is liver extract a good alternative?
VERY serious: You need to find out why you are iron deficient. You have stomach or colon cancer until proved otherwise. Stomach or duodenal ulcer is also a common cause. Grown men don't "just get" iron deficiency, especially if they aren't vegetarians. Get with a physician who will work you up aggressively. Best wishes. ...Read more

If he is deficient: If he has absorption problems or is not getting enough sun exposure or always has sunblock on (which is good, but blocks 95% of vitamin d production). If he does not have a deficiency, then the extra vitamin d will increase calcium above the levels needed. Consistent vitamin d and calcium intake through a lifetime is the way to go. There is such things as too much of a good thing, too! ...Read more

Of course!: Vitamins are essential nutrients that our bodies need to turn calories into energy. Apthous ulcers: I agree with dr. Ali -- b complex (which contains all "b" vitamins) may help. Also l-lysine, an amino acid, taken at 1000mg 3/day with meals may help. Some have also used lemon balm tea. Lemon balm (melissa officinalis) extract is additionally known to help cold sores (hsv-2). http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19023806. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: A multivitamin will seldom supply optimal levels of vitamin c, so i often advise that people take additional vitamin c. Some people will benefit from higher intake of b complex than many multivitamins provide and there is no danger in taking an additional b complex. There is no harm in taking lots of b's except limit b6 to 250 day. Excessive Folic Acid may be harmful- see my comment. ...Read more

Vitamins: There is seldom any need to take vitamin supplements in the USA with a balanced diet, but if you do take them follow the directions and do not take more than one each day and it will not hurt you. Zinc is the same. You can choose to do this or not. Very few people are zinc deficient. Good luck and stay healthy. ...Read more

It depends...: This depends on how much vit d you get from the sun. In spring & summer about 10 minutes of exposure to midday sun allows us to make enough d if you don't use sunscreen. In fall & winter months most adults need 5-8000 iu/day to achieve optimal levels of vit d. Testing your d levels can help you determine your needs. See http://bit.Ly/1dc7vna for details. ...Read more
