Visits have both...: Many doctor visits have both preventive care and symptom care. A routine colonoscopy due to a patient's age can be preventive care. But if the patient has constipation, tummy aches, or even a sore throat related to that visit, then part of the visit becomes symptom care (copay is needed). Most likely: If you have a significant perforation in your colon, that will spill your colon contents "usually stool" into the surrounding cavity which is called peritoneum, that usually triggers severe inflammatory response that might bring down your whole body, I tend to agree with your doctor that if you perforated your colon you'd have been in the hospital by now feeling really sick, . ... ...Read more

What was the med?: Stimulant meds such as ritalin/adderall/vyvanse can cause some nausea/loss of appetite, increase heart rate, abd pain, but ulcers and infections are not likely. Nonstimulant such as strattera (atomoxetine) can cause the side effects you listed, but usually occur rather rapidly after dosing/adjustment and so you would know.
