Will my birth control be non-effective if I took tylenol (acetaminophen) 2, 7 hours after the birth control? And also haven taken zopiclone for one night.
I'm taking sprintec birth control. What other medications should I avoid, so it won't make the pill less effective. Such as tylenol (acetaminophen) etc?
Is there any brand of medicine such as Advil, Tylenol (acetaminophen) or any other that would interfere with sprintec birth control? What should I avoid?
Does tylenol (acetaminophen) affect my birth control (COC) pill in any way? Or any other pain killers, in general? (excluding antibiotics)
No interaction: No-it's really the antibiotics that are the problem with birth control pills, because antibiotics affect the 'gut recycling' of the medication. What that means, is the levels of birth control pills can be lower than normal when on antibiotics. Pain meds are not known for that kind of effect. Hopefully you won't need any pain meds at all-that would be ideal, since everything has side effects. Ingat ...Read more
I got my wisdom tooth removed today and was pricribe tylenol #3. does it lower the effectiveness of the birth control pill? I’m on alysena28.
Should not lower it: Taking the usual doses of any pain medication, such as Tylenol #3, should not change the effectiveness of a woman's birth control pills. Over-the-counter pain medications such as Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, or Excedrin also don't alter the effectiveness of birth control pills. ...Read more

I am 25 and have painful periods. Ibuprofen & x strength tylenol (acetaminophen) help with the pain, but not completely. Would it be better to use birth control?
Maybe: From the guy's perspective, unless you want to have children in the immediate future, use of hormonal contraception is a great method to manipulate your periods such that you only have a quarterly or even annual menstrual cycle, thus decreasing the pain associated w/monthly cramping or even menstrual migraines. That said, there are known risks, such as blood clots, so you need to discuss w/ur doc. ...Read more

Can taking norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and clindamycin effect my birth control implant?
No effect: The birth control implant (Implanon/Nexplanon) is extremely safe because it only releases the progestin, Etonogestrel. There is no estrogen and so the risk of clots is MUCH lower than any combined method. Failure rate is 0.05% in a year, which is almost better than getting your tubes tied. It is effective within a week of insertion and won't be affected by ANY antibiotics (except rifampin). ...Read more

Withdrawal of birth control is highly unlikely to cause weight gain. Without birth control you may be pregnant which can cause an initial, significant weight gain. Other issues are thyroid dysfunction. Sometimes the estrogen in oral contraceptives can cause nausea and now you may be relieved of this nausea.
Losing insurance should not prevent you from obtaining contraception. Wal-mart has very cheap birth control as does planned parenthood and neighborhood health clinics. The clinics can also evaluate for thyroid dysfunction. I would suggest that you check out one near you. ...Read more
