Can a thyroid disease cause oily greasy hair?

Can a thyroid disease cause oily greasy hair?

Thyroid: An underactive thyroid can cause very dry skin and hair but an overactive thyroid can cause oily hair and very smooth skin. Other symptoms of an overactive thyroid include diarrhea, or frequent stooling, loss of hair, rapid heart rate and even irregular heart beat. Check with your doctor and if you have any other symptoms they could run a thyroid test to evaluate.

I'm only a teenager and I have hashimotos thyroid disease. My big concern is that im loosing a lot of hair.

See you doctor: If you are having alopecia it could due to your thyroid levels being increased, which are sometimes seen early on in hashimotos before signs of hypothryoidism. Also signs of hyperthyroidism are diarrhea, weight loss, and dry skin.

I have irregular menses, heavy eye's, continuous dark circles, dry hair, thyroid-normal, hb-11.2, father had renal failure, can u please help?

Ok, hold on, don't: Go make your will yet. Sleeping well at night? Stress level elevated? Crying spells? Issues with weight? You may be having irregular menses b/c you are not ovulating regularly. This is pcos, usually. This can put you at risk for a mood problem, often signified by sleep disruption. There is a link to diabetes, if pcos, metformin can help and prevent dm in many cases. I'm sure ur kidneys r ok.

Autoimmune, celiac, vitamin def, thyroid, anemia all normal. Still having dark circles, dry hair is thinning, dry skin, could it be pcos or low acid?

Autoimmune, celiac, vitamin def, thyroid, anemia all normal. Still having dark circles, dry hair is thinning, dry skin, could it be pcos or low acid?

Dry thin hair& skin: Sounds like you've had all the proper blood work. I would make sure you get vit D and B checked. You could have an intolerance to gluten which would not show up on any lab test. The sx also sound like you maybe malnourished. Have you been doing extreme dieting? I know when I diet everything is affected, and not right away. Try going gluten free, and drink water and tea. No soda. Feel better!

Skin: You might try essential fatty acids. Alpha linoleic acid (ala), linoleic acid (la), DHA and EPA which can be found in primrose oil and fish oil. These can help the skin and hair. Also make sure you have a a good healthy gut and take probiotics.

Hi I keep burping and I have right side neck pain along with stomach pain, gas, paleness, dry hair, and headaches, legs feel numb and knees pins+needl?

Multiple symptoms: This sounds like several issues. This could be reflux, gallbladder, connective tissue disorder, autoimmune disease and/or even thyroid problems. You should see your primary care provider for lab work and possible testing.

Why my hair fall so much eventhough I doent have any previous surgery or serious disease. I have a very dry hair and lead dandruff.

Hair: I would start by seeing a hairdresser. If she can handle your hair issues that's great. If not you will need to see a Dermatologist.

I have an oily scalp and dry hair, used scalp shampoo caused my hair even dry; used mosturised shampoo caused my scalp even oily n itched, help?

Brush your hair: Using a natural bristle brush! Not synthetic or plastic. Brush hair 50 strokes daily. It will distribute the oil into hair. So no more excess oily scalp and less dry hair.

Can Thyroid disease cause you to lactate? I breastfed for 6m then lactated for 6 then stopped lactating for 6m then I started again. What's going on?

Can Thyroid disease cause you to lactate? I breastfed for 6m then lactated for 6 then stopped lactating for 6m then I started again. What's going on?

Possibly: Significantly low thyroid levels can result in high prolactin, which can then cause lactation. However, if your thyroid level is normal on medication, it would not be a cause for lactation. You should have your prolactin level checked.

I have systemic lupus and sj%f6gren's syndrome, no thyroid disease, many days now I feel heavy pressure on my neck this is awful how to manage & causes?

See below: If it is in the back of your neck, it could be osteoarthritis, degenerative disk disease, cervical radiculopathy. You would need to see your doctor to have an exam and possibly imaging to confirm. If it present, physical therapy, injections, and medications soemtimes helps.
